Still, the point is valid. We could just ... not use plastics.

Future future headline: Scientists create new synthetic spray to protect customers from dangerous synthetic coating meant to contain micro plastics in fabric

You don't usually use microplastic, you use plastic and that just breaks down over time. Just the abrasion in a washing machine is enough for that, but also basically any other mechanism that degrades the material.
Microplastic to plastic is similar to sand in comparison to solid rock.

Unless this coating is cheap, nontoxic, and biodegradable, it's just kicking the can further down the road, really

Unfortunately not, at least for the forseeable future.

Reply to comment by Mayor__Defacto in US company gets $120 million boost to make 'green steel' by Ok_Champion6840
This right here. Worked at one of their Arkansas plants two years ago and generally speaking there are some opinions on "green steel."
Oftentimes the impact of green steels like the newer hydrogen process is higher than using DRI and an EAF. People just don't wanna hear that yet.

Future headline. Coating meant to protect from micro plastics sheds and damages DNA.

This headline is a bit misleading, they aren't 'rolling out' anything, they're offering a new plan to existing customers, with existing infrastructure.

Exactly. We can put the windmills where they are the most effective and least disturbing to the environment. And use the energy somewhere else where it is needed. I don't see why would be this policy a struggle.

It was 2-3 years ago renewables like wind and solar became cheaper than coal where it’s windy or very sunny. But it took subsidies and a couple of decades to create this timeline. Today those areas where renewables work are growing with larger subsidies and better innovation. Most new electricity demand is going to renewables with smaller amounts going to nat gas. This is your woke response.

As someone who's a fan of the 3:30:300 (3 trees per house hold, 30% canopy, 300 metre from a wild park) rule as a minimum, this is good news. We just those in Oxford moaning about not being able to do rat runs in their cars to shut up, and we will be on our way to having walkable, cyclable, clean air, clean water in our cities.

Future headline: We spent so much time obsessing about micro plastics and plastic straws, we didn't focus enough on the most important issue at hand, which was reducing CO2 in the atmosphere. Now we have a runaway greenhouse effect and mass extinction around the globe.
