I drove Olympia to Portland yesterday in an awd outback, it was hectic at times but doable. Ice is melting aggressively in Portland right now, but your main problem would be the Siskiyou Pass.

Definitely. People in rual areas live vastly different lives than city dwellers and as a result vote very differently and for valid reasons.
We’re seeing this issue all over the country (New York and NYC, Illinois and Chicago, California and LA, Texas and Dallas, and Oregon and Portland) where these giant cities are essentially silencing the rest of the state they’re in. Regardless of what side you’re on it’s a major issue that should be addressed

Reply to SR-14 road conditions? since i84 is closed I was wondering if anyone in here has taken sr14 today so I can figure out my route driving east. Thanks by RS4_12
Isn't 84 usually way better than 14 even though it's just a little bit south?

I'm not sure how you think West side tech giants contribute to the East side economy.
Second, I never advocated for E. WA being it's own state.

Where do you shop at amigo? Come on down to wenatchee where you only pay 6 dollars for 92 percent oil, and that’s before you use points to get a discount. I don’t disagree with what you are saying about edibles however I would recommend taking a tolerance break as eating 100 mg of edibles to feel anything is not great for your health.

Thats... literally my point.
It was acknowledged as an issue and addressed by federal and state legislature while remaining largely ignored with regard to ballot measures combined with state preemption.

Eastern Washington on its own would be as piss poor as rural Idaho if it wasn't for the tech giants and Seattle in general.

Rural disenfranchisement?! That is the opposite of what the electoral college and US senate do.

They shouldn't, they should have more local autonomy.
I was simply pointing out that the issue of rural disenfranchisement was clearly acknowledged on a federal scale but not a state level.

From the sounds of it I'd be better off going over MT Hood then SR-14 😂

You definitely have a bunch of noise in your data representation, there are "buckets" all over Olympic National Park and that striping east of the Cascades isn't right, either.

I'm north off I5. Our streets are still solid ice in our neighborhood. I'm sure they've de-iced the main roads but it's been solid ice. I wouldn't drive right now.

Why should "landmass" (aka landowners) have disproportionately more say than everyone else in a democratic system?

It is kinda nutty that we have the electoral college to account for this at scale, but at the state level we're just like "yeah, it's fine if 5-10% of the landmass decides everything for the rest of it".
Regardless of your political stance, I think we can all agree that it's an issue of representation that drives the cultural divide further.
Edit: This downvote ratio is literally proving my point, we need systems in place to curb this kind of "oppression is fine when my team has the votes" bullshit. It's clear that a majority of people in WA do not want representative governance, they want their own preferred brand of tyranny.

How walkable are Puyallup, Graham, South Hill, Frederickson, Summit, and surrounding areas? Is it necessary to have a vehicle? Is it safe to walk around there?

I5 only becomes a problem when you're going thru the passes between Cali and Oregon. If it snows there or has, then approved traction devices are required. I once got stuck for 14 hours on account the state patrol was inspecting for chains and I didn't have any. None of the stores did either... screwed up mess.
right now they have this advisory on RogueWeather.com
FREEZING RAIN IS CREATING HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS FROM EUGENE NORTH TO WESTERN WASHINGTON. DO NOT ATTEMPT TRAVEL!! NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS AND CLOSURES OF I 5 AND OTHER HIGHWAYS. TRAVEL IS NOT GOING TO BE RECOMMENDED UNTIL SATURDAY AFTERNOON.
Winter driving season has begun. Studded tires legal for use in both Oregon and California. Snow Zones with chain laws in effect from Redding, California to Cottage Grove, Oregon. By law, you must carry chains with you at all times, or have studded tires on.ws in effect from Redding, California to Cottage Grove, Oregon. By law, you must carry chains with you at all times, or have studded tires on.

I shop all over so I can deal hunt.. I can get cheap oil, I have my medical and you can get $5-$10 dabs at any shop don't trust the thc% for quality. The cheap dabs are much better in Oregon, even without my medical discount its worth the trip to stock up especially on cbd. Edibles have always been this way for me. Takes at least 250 to feel anything, my usual lollipops are 125.
