I’m really sorry to hear that. That is really bizarre behavior because PT needs tourism besides locals. They rely heavily on tourist season for a lot of the shops in downtown. I love the in between. I liked when they had the deck open downstairs and you could drink right on the water. I’m really sorry you had that experience. That bar is in a space that has turned over many times in the last decade. With behavior like that I don’t see it lasting long. Shit service doesn’t really work. I love PT and spend a lot of time there but I will admit it’s never really at bars. Did you try soak on the sound while you were there?

Of course! There is a bar called PT anchor there that is where we first started getting bad service. The bartender would ignore us when we would ask for drinks, gave us dirty looks and just overall a bad attitude and poor service. After the second time we went there after leaving a generous tip on the company card we received equally poor service the second time. We decided to try a different bar the next night. There we have great service until we see the same bartender from first bar(PT anchor) come in and sit down to have a drink. He has a conversation with the bartender and after that we began receiving poor service again. The next time we went to PT anchor we asked the guy why he has a problem with us and he told us because we were “outsiders” and they were “Townees” and that we didn’t belong there.

They can have their little town full of old people I was just there for work. Would have spent lots of money on the company card and tipped well but this guy chose to alienate us from the town.

We did go into a couple small bars that were really cool and great service like the in between.

Many glaciers have some portion that stays even through the driest and hottest period of summer. Mount Everest is never missing snow at the top, and Mount Rainier always has snow too but that might be changing. This is a real concern because most water in Washington during the summer comes from the glaciers melting. If they start to run out, the lack of rain will also be a lack of rivers.

I primarily go after Petrified wood, Geodes, Agates and Fossils more then Crystals. I defiantly have some and occasionally will look if I'm near a site but my neighbor (who is also a lapidary) is my primary source, as he goes after Quartz scepters and Amethysts, so we end up trading a lot.

The Book "Gem Trail of Washington" by Garret Romaine is a good resource for well known sites. The Washington Department of Natural Resources has a whole page devoted to rockhounding in the local area. Depending on your location, Rock Clubs will also some times do member tours where they all collectively(see what I did there?) go out together and find goodies. I did one up to Baker Lake and Walker Valley and had a good time on both.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions!
