Oh my god, I love to hear that :) (Also, you're partially responsible for me trying gouache haha. Love your work!)

It basically always looks like this at the north end of the lake. It used to be a river bed and is wide and constantly depositing sediment. The stumps are from trees that were inundated by the dam creation, pretty common site in WA dammed lakes.

It's something you would only want to explore approaching the slack before low water to get free diving depths. Plankton blooms, heavy rains, or days ending with "y" may spoil visibility which can range from 2ft to 25ft with 10-ish being pretty typical.
Lots of Portland based folks five Hood Canal and there's some rocky headlands you can explore. There's a few waterfront rentals around Hoodsport plus Mike's Beach Resort that cater to divers.
I really like cold water diving in the PNW but it's definitely an acquired taste that requires a really good understanding of local conditions to mitigate risk. The really cool stuff is in British Columbia.

You can also camp directly on the beach at Shi Shi. The trail into the beach from the road is very well maintained. People who own the houses along the road will let you park your vehicle for a small nightly charge.

If you're living in the Airbnb for 3 months, that very well could be your residence. Update your address with a bank and your employer, and you'll have evidence for an enhanced license too. Yeah, changing your address twice sucks, but there's no minimum stay requirement. It's about intent -- and intent not to return to where you came from.

When my daughter was trying to get a drivers permit, she had a birth certificate, a passport, her school id & me. They wouldn’t let her get it because she didn’t have a bill with her address on it. This was west Seattle.

Just a touch, and I’m a bit tickled anyone noticed!! That location reminds me so much of Rivendell. I was sliiiiiiightly channeling the stylized illustrative watercolor landscapes that Tolkien painted of Middle Earth. :-)

It was absolutely stunning! Along with Lake Cushman and driving further into the edge of the National Park. I unfortunately didn’t have to loop further into the peninsula, but I’ll be back :)

Hard to believe but the road deck here is approx 200’ higher than the Tacoma Narrows bridge. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

A couple years ago there was a post on here about some people (possibly a couple?) who said it was their goal to visit every city in WA state and now I see why lol. This sounds like a fictional place.

Reddit ruined it. It’s scattered with trash and Green Diamond ripped up all the wooded ties.

The road is pretty horrible. I did it in a Legacy which has less clearance than your Outback, but had to be somewhat careful about where to put my tires. Ruts, potholes, and bridge trolls asking riddles.

Yeah I’ve seen a few videos floating around on Facebook now that my algorithm is slowly becoming more local to the area haha it’s actually why I thought to ask! Thanks for the tips 🤙🏼 when I lived in Florida as a kid we’d see all types of cool ocean life that I’ve forgotten about since my time in Michigan- I don’t think we ever saw any Octopi though, so I’m supppper hoping to come across one some day :)

Yes if you’ve got the time, Olympic NP is well worth it.
