Here, in WA, mostly everything is online except getting a new license. You can start the paperwork, and upload documents online (use the license express link on dol.wa.gov).

In some state, you can get a non-photo state ID (for example - snowbirds going to AZ) but I'm not sure if we have that here. That would, in theory, allow you to retain your "permanent" ID, and use the non-photo state ID for WA proof.

I'm happy here in Washington State and I went Down to California and I wasn't very happy... but when i was back home by i-84 i was happy to be home. I hope you'll enjoy the frigid temperatures(like -10°F and below for the low) we have here in the winter.

Carson hot springs in the gorge. Carson, WA. I highly recommend it and they have rooms with private Jacuzzis with the hot spring water piped in. Carson has a great brewery with great food. Makes for an all around great weekend. Bonus is you get the gorge and also easy driving in the symmer through old growth forest to see Mt. St. Helens or you could drop into Oregon to visit bridal veil falls.

Well, it recently merged with the Seattle-Cascade chapter, so it goes all the way from Darrington down to Maple Valley. They met in Redmond in January, but I think they may be moving around to different areas to help more members join. You can find your chapter at www.tu.org/chapters/ if you aren't sure!
