Cool, I have brown bears that live by my house and sometimes eat my trash but I have never seen them.

Wait... you can see Dragon Tail from I90?? I've been on the right side of the ridgeline and didn't see I-90 from it...

This photo was taken August 6th 2022. Even though it's covered in snow right now, it's a great place to snowshoe during the winter!

Which one? Looks like there are two, Pacific Highway and SE 240th St. (as I’m getting in the car to head directly to Kent!) Thanks!

Democrat here. I live in LC. It’s becoming more mixed. Still pretty conservative but the town of centralia, chehalis, and Napavine are at least trying. It seems.
But yeah. More so still pretty red.

I was born and raised in Washington, and I've always referred to it as the bathroom. Only like 30% of the people in Seattle were born in the area, though, so you get a pretty big mix of different regional dialects.

To real, I went to Glacier NP & it’s not as good as getting a pass to the JBLM training areas in Thurston County. There’s some beautiful driving through Montana & stopped in Hot Springs, MT to soak, that was quirky & great

Honestly, I know it gets a bad rep on Reddit, but Belfair has treated me very kindly. Enough accessible necessities, cheaper than most spots around and I have experienced that people are actually friendly and accepting.

Technically, the park is open but none of the vendors operate until summer so there is no food or lodging, no rental kayaks, bikes, etc. Going to the Sun Road, which is basically the jewel of the park, doesn’t usually open until late June. If you want to do a road trip from Seattle in April, I’d head south or even west. Have you been to Neah Bay? It’s gorgeous!

Yeah I know, and the best of luck to ya, I love WA state and the PNW...just very saddened by what America is and has become over the last couple decades.

Going to the sun road isn't open until June/July depending on the snow still present. So it's doable but be prepared for a longer drive to go between places, and for some others to still be closed. I went in early June and I had a good time.

I’d rather name our state after George Clinton.

Not sure where you are in WA, but the Kent Fred Meyer carries Taylor ham and so does DeLauenti at Pike Place

You should plan a great flood trip and really learn about the geological event that essentially shaped the Northwest as we know it. You will end up at Glacier start in the Willamette Valley.

Looks too similar to DC, and green and yellow look like some ugly Green Bay Packers flag. I like the green- that should stay since it represents Washington well. But, make it unique to the Cascadia region.
Also, I hate that the state is named after Washington. As if every state in the union doesn't have a county named Washington let alone the capital being Washington DC.
We need a new name in addition to a new flag imo.

The problem is, you’re looking for something that a lot of other people are also looking for and is super popular right now: quiet small town charm with a progressive culture. Thus the demand is driving all the prices in these places up. Even the bad places are getting pricey.
Edit: sorry I’m not all that helpful in answering your question. In hindsight I’m probably just stating the obvious

I’m not sure if they still call it the “Indian John Hill“ rest stop, but that is one of the best places to stop and get a picture of that range.
