“Bathroom” generally refers to the room in a private home.
In a building open to the public, it’s “restroom,” “men’s room,” “women’s room,” (or if people think they’re being funny, sometimes “little boys’/girls’ room”), or very occasionally “washroom,” though that’s generally more of a Canadian thing.

My grandma (from Skagit County) said “washroom,” and I’ve even seen it on a few signs in WA.

Moved to Washington for the same reason. Company HQ is in Oregon and told them I either WFH or walk. No reason to pay income tax if you can avoid it. Ensure your company doesn’t have you listed as an in office employee in UT and you should be good.
The fact that no income tax is called out in WA constitution means it will be extremely hard to overturn.
Once they boot the bums this state will be dope.

My queer kiddo has been yelled slurs while walking on the sidewalk by cars of adults driving past. They have been attacked several times by high schoolers resulting in police reports.
By the number of “let’s go Brandon” flag in the area I have to disagree that people don’t advertise their politics here.
I’m glad that your kids felt safe in Shelton decades ago, but it isn’t the case now.

If you’re on the FB, there’s a community where folks post when they’re trying to transfer or trade reservations. It covers all campgrounds and not just National Parks. Gets pretty busy once the weather improves. Might be worth checking out. Pretty sure Reddit won’t let me link to it, but it’s called PNW Camping Reservations Re-listings.

I laugh at those signs every time I see them. Not the "against racism" part, I laugh at the "rural Americans" part. Longview is not rural America.

No… no one wants to do this. People come to Washington BECAUSE of no income tax. You want to pay through the nose in taxes you can go down south to our neighbor California and watch 10%+ more of your paycheck disappear into the abyss every month if you’d like.

It depends how your company's business license is set up. You'll need to talk to HR about this. If your company currently has employees working in Washington, that's a pretty good sign you'll be fine.
We went through this almost four years ago. My husband got clearance from his boss in Utah to work remotely in Washington. We sold our home and were on the drive here when he got word from HR that we couldn't actually move because their business license wasn't set up to have employees working in Washington. Fun times.
It was an unfortunate situation and our workaround was to keep a Utah address and pay Utah taxes until my husband got a job locally.
TLDR: talk to your company's HR

Not enough of us. Implementing an income tax (which we've actually done before!) would require an amendment to the state constitution (which we didn't do the first time, oops). We've made one attempt to fix this in the past 40 years, which failed almost 2:1. For any politician outside of the Seattle city limits, proposing a state income tax is political suicide (and it's not a slam-dunk policy for everyone within the city either).
With the way things are now, I seriously doubt we'll ever implement a progressive income tax in this state in my lifetime. My wife and I make enough money that we benefit from our horrible and regressive tax system, and I really wish it wasn't this way. Things will continue to decay.

We always ask for the bathroom or restroom. During Canadian holidays / Canadian teams playing in Seattle, you'll hear Washroom but only Canadians say that.

Skagit County used to check most of those boxes with housing prices not too bad until about 2-3 years ago. But now it's hard to find stuff there for less than $350. Burlington and Mt Vernon had occasional listings for livable homes for less than $200k about 5 years ago.
It's tough. If you were wiling to consider EWA, you might like Spokane although it's tough to find homes in it's suburbs for less than $300k these days. For Spokane proper, yes but the property crime is high there.
Tri Cities or Walla Walla are also options but smaller and might fit your needs, but again they are in EWA.

This. Campgrounds in the shoulder seasons and dispersed in the summer.

What? How is this question hurting you in any way?
I understand trans rights and inclusivity, which I am making an assumption this is about, but someone asking this question doesn’t have anything to do with that. And if you are actually offended by this, this is why no one takes this shit seriously. I’m not saying you can’t be offended, but this is one of those times where some self awareness needs to come into play, and you need to understand that just because you were offended doesn’t mean someone meant to offend you; or that they need to change something they did. This is a perfectly acceptable question and it will be until we stop having doors in every establishment that say “MEN” or “WOMEN” on the door.

I didn't have an issue 2020. But I did notice it hard to book in 2022 lots of spots reserved. This year might be the same. There are same day spots with no reservation but that is a risk that it might already be taken

This always aggravates me! The park system really needs a way to remind people to cancel and/or charge for no-shows.

This is why I do a lot of my camping by scooping up cancellations later in the year, although that requires more regular checking to see if sites have opened up.
The amount of people who want to go camping has risen a LOT over the past decade but available campsites have risen not at all. It's a real bummer, especially if you can only camp on weekends.
Wellcraft19 t1_j9zske6 wrote
Depending on time you have available, doing the ‘great loop’ can be fun that time of year. But that entails driving ‘around’ GNP (as the park really isn’t open)via East Glacier, St Mary, then up into AB via Waterton NP. In Pincher Creek you can go west to Fernie (and enjoy southern BC/the Kootenays), or up along the western spine to Radium, Golden, Revelstoke. Once in Revelstoke, you have a couple of directions to head back to Seattle. Regardless of ‘where, amazing scenery. With lots of snow but roads should be all clear. Radium Hot Springs, Banff Hot Springs are worthy. Skiing in Fernie is second to none, as is Kicking Horse, etc. The small towns in BC offer a lot once stopping and venturing.

And when you get to the park lots of the sites go unused. Should be penalties for no shows
