Yeah it was Mt. Tahoma until somewhere in the 1790’s when a white colonizer guy arrived in the area and “named” the mountain after his buddy back home.

Every county in Washington has a map website. In Thurston county the website is called geodata. You can see all the information about your property. If you really need to get right down to your property line you can hire a surveyor. There's also a bunch of apps you can use on your phone like xhunt. They get pretty close to your property line. I use that before.

Someone wrote a whole book about that. He called it The Hundred Acre Wood. No mention of it being clearcut, though.

I grew up in Clallam county and never wanted to go after seeing a video a friend showed me of her visit when I was in high school back in 2011. Now that I'm living over in the metro Seattle area I warn people away from going whenever I can. Those poor animals have been neglected and mistreated for far too long.

I'm not sure about now, but a lot of the animals were for the movies and television. Most famous was Bart, and I believe Big Ben, who was actually a female.

Northwest Trek is the best wildlife of Washington sanctuary. All the large herbivores roam free in a large preserve. All of the animals have natural habitats or as close as they can be. You can go anytime of the year and you will see something new each season.

I dont know now, but they used to feed the Bear with Bread. They were extremely obese the time we visited back in 2020 during the peak of the pandemic. The whole thing felt like Tiger King documentary.

They wrote an article over 100 acres! Seriously? That's 0.156 square miles. They cut down that much each year just for good forestry management and firebreaks. A Forest fire like we get every would burn that much up in an hour or less. Even after they cut down the trees they plant more than they cut.
KyloYen t1_ja60aym wrote
What this article totally neglects to mention is that we cut down forests like these constantly for real estate development without batting an eye, the only reason this gets any attention is because its specifically the government doing it.

I used to be THAT GUY. Totally clueless yet would get annoyed at others blasting their music. Wife helped me evolve, i'm much more advanced now with my headphones & love it! Boney M, Mariachi El Bronx, Gershwin, Vampire Weekend, or others on demand as loud as I want without bothering a soul ~ I love it!

Such a beautiful area with so much life! I hope something like the Ohio chemical train issue never happens here. This state (and Northwest region) is such a treasure to the whole country.

I mean, sadly Tacoma is still considered one of the most heavily polluted areas in the country because of the Asarco smelter.
