It was like an elevated terrace area that was partially paved, adjacent to the main trail that follows the top of the bluff. There are paved areas all over the park (Dune Peninsula Park)

There are some great aurora alert apps out there. Since I live on the west side of the cascades, I have all but given up on skywatching. Never seems to work out for me since I moved here 15 years ago. I live through others sky experiences now.
Thanks for the photo!

As much as it sucks you may need to sell that vehicle and get a different one.

There are aurora alerts apps, but I don't have personal experience with them. If I'm curious about the probability for the day of or the next day, I Google aurora forecast and the first few links usually give me an indicator. If the Kp is above 4, it's promising!

Reply to Is Lakewood fairly safer than Tacoma? by westmaxia
Real Estate company and homeowner in Tacoma here. I'm in all the neighborhoods around JBLM all the time. Lakewood and Tacoma especially because of JBLM. In my opinion, Tacoma and Lakewood are both neighborhood by neighborhood. You can be in a D-class neighborhood in either city, travel 2 miles in any direction and be in a B-class neighborhood. Neighborhoods also change over time, so it's worth spending some time driving around and experiencing it for yourself.
We've sold houses in really fantastic neighborhoods in both cities, and the buyers have loved them. And, there are others we wouldn't even feel safe putting families into homes. It comes down to research. If you're looking in the city limits of Lakewood and Tacoma, go check out the interactive crime maps for both cities. For everything else, check out the Pierce County Crime Map: https://gisdata-piercecowa.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/crime-data/explore.
If I had to pick 2 areas to stay away from in each city, I'd say steer clear of the areas immediately West of the Tacoma mall, and for Lakewood I'd steer clear of Tillicum.
Good Luck!

There are solar lead generation companies where their sole purpose is to collect your information through those YouTube ads and sell over and over and over to solar companies

Cascadia megathrust earthquake involving Juan De Fuca plate is a scarier disaster and a higher risk too I believe. There are cities on the coast like Long Beach, WA that will simply disappear. I5 will be out for weeks. They happen about every 300-500 years and it has been 323 years since the last one.
