coming from illinois, to me the beauty is literally everywhere here in washington. i’ve been to most of the states, and this one stands out majorly. sometimes i meet people who are from here that also don’t see the beauty, it genuinely confuses me. the summertime here is the absolute best. endless things to do and it’s all stunning.

Yes, can't imagine a better place to live. I was born here, though, so I am likely not a good example. We have such a wide range of geography (ocean, mountains, rivers, desert, farms), a good range of seasonal changes, so much green, and decent career opportunities.

Just as a heads up, it's somewhat of a short notice thing, and even then, some predictions can end up being a false hit.

What I'm saying, temper expectations. And assume you'll be disappointed on a decent amount of attempts. Make it an enjoyable experience besides if you catch the lights, so you don't just get discouraged from further attempts

Well said. Completely agree with you. Yeah some of the rural areas do suck here in Washington. But that doesn’t cancel out the sheer beauty of the truly beautiful and amazing places we have around here in Washington. It’s like for me. Like in my comment I lived in Minnesota near the Mississippi River. And wasn’t far from Headwaters, or even the Boundary Waters (I actually recommend visiting there.) because it’s stunning. And heck even some of the small towns a great. Stillwater Minnesota is cute “little” town. I lived in Southern California out near Palm Springs Joshua Tree Park is beautiful for the nights sky’s. Lived in Florida near alligator alley. Absolutely hated it there but still pretty. There is beauty in every place. And sadly there is a lot of ugly too. Whether the people who inhabit the area or the actual landscape.

I haven’t lived there…yet. But perspective is important.

We’re about to move to Washington from Texas. I welcome open roads, trees, water, rain and isolation. I’ve lived in Dallas the last 5 years and the heat is literally killing me and my 2 young boys. Not to mention the violent drivers. I’m ready for access to waterfalls, ocean, trees, hills, precipitation. We’re looking to embrace all the ‘negatives’ that Washington has to offer and look forward to it.

It’s all about perspective.

You might have lived somewhere where that term is by definition Redneck. But did you think there is other places in the country it also applies? I never said anything about “no shoes” “running water”. If you wanna go that route. Then yes I have lived in places that fit that definition. But if your definition of “redneck” is hillbilly. Than I can even use that describe or “presume” your definition. With places I lived or even of Forks., or the immediate surrounding areas.

💯I was born here. Used to love it, but I keep seeing things get worse and worse every year. Housing costs, food costs, homelessness rate, burglary rate, drug abuse rate. I know it’s happening in a lot of places but it’s hard to not see failed policy after failed policy and not blame the incompetent politicians who only seem to get elected because the other guy is a trump republican.
