It’s not normal you guys only have one ferry right now it will soon be back to regular two boat service. I would probably explore the Olympics on days it’s only one boat

if you’re stuck at the bainbridge terminal for more than 1/2 hour you have time to stroll into winslow & visit the excellent bakery, excellent t pizza joint, &/or excellent grocery store.

it has also put a strain on the freeway.
imo napping on the ferry is usually preferable to crawling thru federal way @ 5mph

Ooo we should dignify central then. SW Washington feels itself different than everywhere and often feel more like we are in a weird relationship with Oregon… but then again I’m in Vancouver so… we’re pretty much just Portland suburbs. But you know even people in Skamania county work in Portland

Kittitas County, right on the other side of Snoqualmie Pass, gets 105"/year at the wettest spot and about 7"/year at the driest. It is about 85 miles from one side of the county (Snoqualmie Pass) to the other (Vantage on the Columbia River.) I'm in GIS (mapping) and am always amazed at how many people (even in mapping conferences) think that the state is all wet like Seattle, when most of the state is arid.

Chile has a crazy amount of diversity but comparing a country to a state isn’t fair. If you throw in the mainland USA it easily beats Chile.

Yeah, I’ve lived in Western, Central, and Eastern WA. Only people from Central WA refer to it as Central, and even then often use “east of the mountains” since usually we’re talking about traveling back and forth to western WA. Everyone else uses Eastern and Western exclusively.

I hate driving. The ferry is 100% worth not driving for 3 hours.

Natives all up and down the west coast have legends of Saquatch like creatures long before the 1958 discovery of prints in Humboldt.
As for Sasquatch being a NorCal thing, the Sonics had Saquatch as a mascot... 😉

No need to wait for the next ferry when full either because there’s always room

Reply to comment by Due-Rule9075 in Did you include WA Paid Family Leave income for 2022 Federal Tax ? by Due-Rule9075
Well, I will hope the differences will bring a different outcome for WA. We are paying the taxes with the filing, but will send a letter of circumstances and request a ruling. Hopefully they will render a ruling while an amended return can still be filed.
Personally I wished they did not have ESD administer it since CA decision was already made by then.
To me the family leave benefit seems like an insurance payment and the PFML website shows that 100% of family leave premium is paid by the employee. But if it were that straightforward then the IRS would have easily made a ruling on it when the state asked. It isn't something that should have different rules based on individual tax accountants. I would not want the risk of a surprise bill and penalty, so we pay it for now.

Sadly in our reality profit trumps environment. Washington's destroying so much of what makes it beautiful. Why is it always "peoples" fault though? Its usually companies, politicians, celebrities and other people who make huge profit off destroying land who are at fault - I can buy all the reusable straws and protest as much as I want, but it's not just a "people" problem.

Wear and tear- Seattle I-5 expansion joints took out my radial tires. Ferries are a relaxing way around them and the traffic.

casual dress will be just fine considering it'll probably be raining when you get here and the temperature will probably be in the mid to upper 40's F. You can't go wrong with khakis and a button down shirt although I suspect that quite a few folks will be rockin it in jeans and tee shirts! Come dressed for fun and prepare your palate for some delicious foods and even better wines! you're gonna have so much fun, you're not gonna wanna have to go back home!

As someone who lives outside of Vancouver, WA, this confused me for a minute unit I figures out which Columbia river gorge you were talking about. I’m used to thinking if the one that forms the Oregon border.
