Hint: Go backpack in the Sierra it is an "Enchantments" that goes 250 miles (minus the larch trees) but if you are doing it in summer it shouldn't matter. Also the mountains are A LOT bigger.

Thank you! I wish it was plein air but no, I do not work nearly fast enough to catch that quickly fading light. Hopefully will get there someday :)

Agreed. I was there in October to hike the loop, and the pool was so packed, it was skin to skin. Just a regular pool that's hot. Yuck.

If you have flexibility, try showing up at the ranger station in the morning on day you could make a hike work. They usually have extra permits for the day of.
