When we did the Copper Ridge Loop in North Cascades NP in '17, a dad with two small kids, age 6 and 7, kept pace with us for 3 days. The loop is 34 miles with 8,600ft elevation gain. The kids carried packs, too, but only like their sleep bag and clothes. Respect.

I live in the West, but anytime someone says something about the Eastside being “ugly” it is an immediate tell that they haven’t traveled most of the state.
Potholes and the Columbia refugee are a great example

Aww, so nice! In her younger years when she could hike, our pup would stop and enjoy the view, too! One of her favorites was Deception Pass where she would insist on stopping to enjoy looking down at the water near Lighthouse Point. May you and Whiskey have many years of hikes ahead of you!

Fair enough. Wish my girlfriend at the time had woken me up sooner so I'd been able to get out there before he hooked it up to the truck lol.

He was impounding it because he was called to do so by the property owner. He had every legal right to do that and did you a favor as he was not required by anything wait 30 minutes. I've done the same for people, because it saves them the storage fee that is a 12hr minimum (some places 24hr minimum) charge. Once a tow truck is hooked up to a car the tow truck driver is legally responsible for the vehicle until it is dropped off, if it is being impounded they can't legally just drop it back off, they will get fired and the tow company will get sued. That driver likely didn't pocket the cash, but a lot of driver are on commission (30-33% is normal) so he will get a chunk of it anyways.

Memorial Day-ish for the road to Sunrise. But, the Ashford entrance is open year-round, and there’s two other entrances. https://www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/road-status.htm

That’s a bold assumption. Lol Most locals don’t actually visit the Mountain all that often. Mostly due to cost and overcrowding.
