Do you feel like you’re able to comfortably survive on that amount or are you just scraping by? Sorry if that question is too personal. I have a ton of resentment regarding wages in general as I’ve struggled for years just barely getting by.

Also I wonder what people think of the having to make 3 times the amount of rent in order to live in many places… I know that I could get by without making 3 times the amount so it’s also frustrating finding a place that’s nice but also affordable and doesn’t require you to make 6k a month.

America the Beautiful is also good for Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands access, so it’s a good thing to have. And if you’re a 🇺🇸veteran, it’s free. Good advice earlier to check the individual park websites for more info, including info on roads and trails that may be closed. The ‘plan your visit’ pages on each site are super helpful. The State of Washington also has a site for State Parks (there are many).

Thanks. Great points. I'll be out there 15 days and I'm looking to do something like: Seattle, Olympic (3 days), Portland down the coast (1 night), Mt Saint Helens, Burlington/whaling San Juan islands (Sailiish Sea?), North Cascades, Rainer.

Most of the trips will be 1-2 days besides Olympic.

I also saw Hurricane Ridge opens Memorial Day, and I'll be out there May 31-June 15, so I can only imagine how crazy that'll be lol.

No problem. The individual sites for each park are actually super helpful. Highly recommend checking them out when planning your trip. They’ll have maps and info about hours, entrance areas and times, and closures.

Be aware of the size of these parks and the distances between them as well. Depending on the length of your stay/visits, it may not be feasible to do all of them.

None of the parks you listed have announced that they will require timed entry permits for 2023. In fact, North Cascades doesn’t have an entry fee at all.

Mt St Helens isn’t technically a national park and is maintained by the National Forest Service, but a valid America the Beautiful pass is accepted.

> If you think Oregon has it right than you're not being very realistic. Oregon had so much potential and it's completely wasted because of implementing lots of bad ideas on top of bad management. It went from being a destination state to being a exodus state.

Oh no! They’re not kidding the butts of the wealthy enough! They ran to Washington! Boo hoo! 😭

Oh wait… I don’t care.

In the laboratory of real life the wealthy determine that WA had lower tax exposure than OR according to your post.

If WA because less off a tax haven for the wealthy and the decide to move again…

I. Do. Not. Care.

> I have nothing against income tax if all other states implement one. Otherwise it's just much too simple for those actually paying majority of these taxes to move to a no income tax state.

I agree. All income tax, including capital gains and wages at the same rate and no sales tax for all US citizens.

Not a U.S. citizen? No sales tax exemption.

I make $25 an hour and live in the Bothell/North Creek area. After taxes and insurance I take home about $3200/month. A decent studio apartment is about $1400 alone for rent. Keep in mind utilities, gas (if you drive), and other bills. I shop at Trader Joe’s because the groceries are cheap and decent quality. It’s definitely doable if you are frugal.

Really an actual living wage, one where you maybe have a chance to save some money each month, pay all your bills, buy food, and afford anything else that comes up, would be at least 30 dollars per hour. Especially considering what rent costs here. So many jobs are trying to pay people around 20-22 dollars an hour here. Or even less.
