Swimming to Vashon is easiest (but not easy) from the West side on a good tide with an exposures suit. There is a grass air strip. One resident commuted by helicopter for a while. Everybody else uses a car/passenger ferry from north or south end of the island for a 15 minute ride. Quartermaster is the best secure anchorage and only developed marina. Lots of residences but little "suburban sprawl" or housing subdivisions making Vashon one of King County's nicest suburbs with easy availability to both downtown Seattle and Tacoma as well as South Kitsap County. Goggle displays the island and Puget Sound Metro Area well.

I think much the same thing about people who get outraged about Manchin. I get it, but if he gets primaried then WVa elects a Republican replacement. And then Mitch McConnell would be Majority Leader. That would be much, much worse than having Manchin stymie certain policy goals.

Been out to quartermaster harbor a bit for work in the last few months, right across from the marina.

>I want to know who is the target audience that travels to Quartermaster Harbor and if they get there by boat?

No, generally everyone commutes by ferry. So technically yes on a boat but the WSDOT runs a ferry service to west Seattle and back that goes all day. Look up more details on the WSDOT website.

The 'targert audience' is mostly people who live on the island. On holidays it's a bit more touristy.

>Are boats the only way to get to the island?

Ferry. So you drive to the ferry, and then can drive down the length of vashon down south to quartermaster harbor.

>Is it a residential island?

Yes. Especially in quartermaster harbor area it's mostly populated by retirees who are living their best lives away from the hustle and bustle of the city but close enough to enjoy it's perks.

>What do you do in the island?

Anything you do anywhere else I guess. It's mildly touristy. Wineries, breweries, distilleries, parks, farms, art galleries, gift shops.

Or, y'know. Work if you're doing that.

I don't know about q-master harbor, but I go there quite often to haul waste water on a state ferry boat. There year round residents some commute by ferry. All the groceries and supplies are trucked in on the ferry. There is also bus service via ferry, lots of cycle and bicycle commuters. Google maps has good coverage.

Quartermaster harbor is mostly private residential waterfront housing. It has a couple of marinas. A few public beaches. People fish and recreational boat in the harbor. Without a car the main town of Vashon is not easily reached. The harbor is actually between two islands, Maury island and Vashon, that were connected with a land bridge.
