At least it was mostly dangerously dry underbrush and not very many trees IIRC. As much as the smoke sucked, this was ultimately healthier for the forest and prevents larger fires in the future that do destroy entire forests, so they mostly focused on keeping it away from people

I think OP may be referring to that strip of untilled soil in the front of the photo which is of course still part of the 99.9% of land used for industrial agriculture, in the Palouse at least. There may be a strip of native prairie down by where you see those trees in the back. That area all the way in the back right around Steptoe Butte includes 437 acres of land surrounding the State Park was purchased by two families for preservation in 2016.

Unpopular Opinion: Never waste money on pasta. It’s 5¢ worth of box pasta and canned sauce from some shitty Cisco or FSA food truck. And fuck Bizarros. They’re just as shitty but with crappier service and a 20% mark-up. If you want pasta, set the table, light candles, and whip it up yourself.
