Reply to comment by Data-Hungry in There is a little grocer in Home, Washington. It has the best sign ever. by WyleKilliams
Honestly, all the locals have nicknames for it, and I am not sure they know. There was an old sign that hung there that had the same inscription, but it didn't have girth.
Home, Washington is really cool. It might've been the first white nudist colony in the state? Not sure about that, but if you research "The nudes vrs the Prudes" you will have an interesting evening. Also include The Agitator in your search.
Home has some interesting beginnings.

Private anything sucks because the goal is money. You can’t achieve great things when you’re focused on the wrong outcome.

Live in one of the reddest counties in one of the reddest districts in Washington. Can confirm, public services are a hellscape of little public transport and dodgy Internet from 20 years ago thanks to selling out to Comcast every chance we get.
Private utilities are probably the least dependable version of utilities in my experience.

That is true. My cousin manages a bunch of orchards out there and was telling me about all the apples getting ripped out and replaced by cherries.

Not quite as flowery is when there were apple trees down there but those all got ripped out and cherry trees planted. More money in cherries then red delicious apples these days.

It was fancy to us. This was back in the late 90’s to early 00’s. A sweet old widow lived there and her daughter and son in law lived in the Brown and yellow house above her house.
I bet you have an incredible view in the spring when those orchards are in blossom.

Would you mind elaborating on this? My wife and I are WA residents; she is a (regular employee) nurse, working in OR. Oregon state taxes are deducted from her pay. As a traveler, I assume your residency is still in WA; but where do you physically live/stay while working in OR -- in OR or WA?

Yes. When I was a kid the house was a light green maybe mint green with white trim. The flat spot in front of that house is/was a pool. Many good memories there.
