But if the Fish Wars taught us anything it's that it will be anything other than just straight forward. Natives were forced onto reservations with a treaty giving them certain rights. Now your saying that they should just give up more because everyone else has been greedy for years and had a huge hand in the decimation of the fish population.

Which is exactly what banning fish farming is trying to do, that is the purpose, to work together and let the ecosystem of the Puget Sound recover from years of harmful practices that yes, were mostly from white men.

As I'll be the first white man to admit that white man ruined the fishing in this country, I did not make the deals, and therefore will not deny anyone their rights. All we can do at this point is teach others and move forward in hopes that everyone will eventually work together to solve and fix the problem at hand

Well, in this particular case one tribes practices are interfering with the livelihood of other tribes, along with the ecosystem of the whole Puget Sound.
Their right to fish does outweigh other groups right to fish, and to live off the common goods of the Puget Sound.

The campground itself is there, but it is closed. They've had a sign at the entrance since at least the beginning of last summer. Hopefully the state opens it back up, but last I heard it was closed indefinitely. The park is open, but not the campground.
Edit: words

Yeah, here in chehalis, the ER is a joke. You can come in on the verge of death, and look forward to AT LEAST a 5 hour wait in the lobby. Plus most of the staff are rude for seemingly no reason at all. Worst hospital I've ever been to.

Older workers retired in droves when the pandemic hit. They were the most at risk to the virus and didn't want to risk their health working in the industry. Now there's a shortage.

I know several that quit over mandates. I thinks that's a majority of it along with exhaustion from dealing with covid.

What I've seen posted in r/nursing and other Healthcare subs has echoed staffing problems nationwide. Doesn't really seem to bode well without some major business decision shifts.

I hear you all. I understand all of you. But I'm a mom who needs 24 hour care at home for her daughter. We've been doing this for 37 years, and each year the availability of nurses gets thinner. Yes, the pay isn't quite Hospital pay but it's a break. It's a supplement if you need a bit of extra money. Please consider picking up one or two shifts a month in home health care. And you'll love your patients.

If what they are doing is continuing the process of decimating the wildlife population, then yeah they should be asked to give it up. I hear what you are saying, it's not straightforward and this is just another grevience in a long list of justified greviences Native Americans have, but if what they are doing is taking away the rights of others, then it shouldn't be allowed. The Suquamish also have rights, and if what other tribes are doing is interfering with those rights, then shouldn't the next higher authority (the state) have the obligation to step in?
