I always have the same memory here; The time back in 85-86 where my brother got lost at Seafair and me & like 7 siblings and cousins were stuck sitting in the back of a tan '68 ford pickup (with canopy) staring at that freakin' sign for hours while all the adults scoured the city for him.

Happy ending, they found him innocently watching the midnight parade, but that sign will be in my brain forever.

During the winter the road to artists point closes just past Heather Meadows. There is a large trailhead parking lot just past there for winter use. It’s a popular backcountry skiing starting point (I was up there last week).

If you don’t have any experience with snow travel it’s probably a good idea to find a group to go with. It is the backcountry and avalanches can happen, so you should know basic avalanche safety and carry a beacon and rescue kit and go with a partner, or find a group that will take you up.

Most PM roles in Google needs Masters from the JD. And I couldn’t pass the screening stage without the Master despite having 10 years of experience. I only started to get call back after I had my Master.

However, my partner who is newly graduated with Master’s without experience, got the call back and went through interview right after graduation with Google.

So I think it’s important to have the paper qualification based on my own experiences.

I’d highly recommend “Gardening with Native Plants of the Pacific Northwest” by Kruckeberg and Chalker-Scott.

It’s a great resource for anyone on either side of the mountains. There’s good information specific to the Yakima area but it covers a lot more too

Edit: forgot to give r/NativePlantGardening a shout out. Great sub!

Thanks! The Artist Point road and parking lot isn’t plowed, but you can drive up to where the entrance to it is and park there. That was shot from near the ski school and cafe building.

I had hoped to try and find a trail up to the top of table mountain I could hike, but that wasn’t happening. My second choice was taking the expert chair lift (or snowshoe) near the cafe to the top of the ridge, but the lift was shut down by the time I made it there.

The red marker is where I was and can be driven to easily:

This is the view from table mountain where I had planned on going:

Usually they gain experience through summer internships. Most of them will do 2-3 summers of internships to get an return offer at the last year of their school.

I did the path you have described. Gained experience and take Master later. It actually put me at a disadvantage as most of the roles that I want to move into requires a Master or MBA. Experience is important but it screens me out right from the start when master is a preferred requirement.
