I learned this viewpoint FROM autistic people other than myself.
My parents did a different wrong thing - they "mainstreamed" me with zero supports and didn't even tell me about my own (bad) diagnosis. I've been trying to catch up my whole life.

My advice comes from both personal experience, a degree in psychology, and the weight of literally every single autistic adult i know, which is many.

Please please please start listening to actual autistic adults (and kids, for that matter).
The overwhelming majority of the community condemns most special education programs, and especially and ABA as fundamentally abusive, and mostly pointless. Most autistic adults, including myself, have spent years undoing what they were "taught" in social ed programs in order to become both more healthy and more able.

Any bets the DOJ investigation is triggering this long overdue rollout?

Whenever I've lived in an apartment complex, the Verizon guy would come around asking about upgrading and then when we'd say yes, they'd immediately return with the "Well, we need everyone to say they'll switch because otherwise it's not fiscally responsible to do the work for one apartment". Now that I have a house, I'm certain they'd say they need the whole street...

Your chip on your shoulder stemming from your own personal bad experiences is clouding your judgement and making you a liability to those in the autistic community looking for guidance. Your bias is a serious problem that could be potentially harmful to those in need.

In my humble opinion, and I have a good amount of experience with this, your advice is misguided at best and probably more accurately described as potentially harmful.

Really just don't do it at night in general. Obviously Halloween is the worst for it but it's a gamble to go at night year round.

Shit, thought I had you blocked. Gotta fix that.
Edit: Ahhhh, that's better. The sweet sound of silence drowning out townie bullshit.

Don't do this on Halloween night. They have police all over the place and you will get a trespass warning. During the day though you are more than welcome to go.

Wrong. Even negligible communities line Fitchburg and Gardner are renting absolute dumps for 1700+. A house rental is 2K.

Respectfully, I have asd and was homeschooled and it was extremely traumatizing. I don’t recommend homeschool, especially for autistic kids.

M-M-M-M-MONSTER JAAAAAAMMMMM!
They're also re-releasing Titanic in theaters for Valentine's Day. Given that you guys apparently weren't alive when that movie came out in theaters (fuck, I'm old) that could be worth considering? It was a sensation for a reason. A big, beautiful, sappy blockbuster that's just incredible to look at on the big screen.

Yeah their comments come off as someone who could not/would not follow the guidance as prescribed and then found “functional” alternatives to behavioral training. And saying they just let their kid be is a long winded way of saying they gave up.
That said, it is not easy to be a parent to kids with ASD/DDs and very difficult to change the coping strategies they developed to get by before they made it through the wait list to achieving services. Looks like a classic extinction burst

Those are areas that have been in decline for a long time and have attracted all of the associated ills of poverty but RT 2 runs through both of them which goes into the Boston area and an alternative to the pike or 9. So yeah I can see what you are saying. I was thinking more like west of Worcester. I look at a property in Spencer in a nice area. It was a nicely updated 2 bed 1.5 bath with a 1 car garage under and parking for 2, a .5 acre yard. I was looking for income property and the realtor said it was rented for $1200 but could fetch $1500. I didn't buy that but looked at some less desirable properties that were all right around $1000 a month. I haven't bought anything yet due to a wobbly market but I do keep an eye out. Worcester's getting whatever the market can bear and it's in my estimate, gouging. If I were a landlord I would prefer good tenants over money. In the long run it pays off. I
