No, they were shut down for awhile for not having workman’s comp insurance for their employees. It’s run by a couple and they had two (maybe three?) employees. One of them must have called about it, which I don’t blame them at all but they had to get the money to purchase it and be able to have it for their employees. Because they took such a hit, they had to let go of said employees. They hope to bring them back once they recoop a little bit.

You've described exactly what we did after the storm, except we went with the more simple option. The hookup is on the outside of the house and there is a four switch panel in the basement that controls that.

However, we've not gotten it so sophisticated, since our generator is in 80-90 year old garage. The generator we got still needs to be plugged into the outside of the house, but that's better than snaking an orange extension cable through the house.

Love Indian food but agree it's hard to find around here. We make it at home instead, which is really the way to go for quality and cost (and feeling super accomplished!). Asian Supermarket in Webster Sq, and India Market and Patel Bros in Shrewsbury are great suppliers. Saag paneer, baingan bharta and murgh makhani are all pretty simple and forgiving.

I'll add that they seemed to triage what you were coming in for. I was in a different queue than folks coming in for license things and my wait was shorter than a lot of folks who were there before me. May help to kill ‘em with kindness too - there were so many people I saw be really unnecessarily rude to the staff and somehow many of them ended up having to wait longer. Funny how that works…

I think that anyone who owns a house in a vulnerable area ought to have a generator. You can have a portable generator hard wired into your home with it's own circuit breaker panel. The size of the generator depends on your house. Any generator, portable or permanent needs to be started once a month and run for awhile. The other option is home standby generators, also called whole-house generators, they are permanently installed by a pro and have insulated weatherproof housing that keeps them relatively quiet. The advantages? They kick on automatically when the lights go out, and they can power everything in your home at once. They also self start and run once a month. These are expensive but convenient and last about 15 years before they need to be replaced. There are also solar options just coming on the market, I'd wait on that to see how that technology progresses.

The White Room in Worcester is really nice and the prices are reasonable. https://www.thewhiteroomworcester.com/weddings-at-the-white-room

The owners are very friendly and flexible. The indoor space is large, and the outdoor space has a brick patio area and a green space. They have recommended vendors but you're not locked into using any of theirs. Parking might be a bit tricky. There's plenty of it, but your guests would be paying to park.
