I actually have never had my car broken into in Worcester, but I did here in Germany during the second month being here.

Back home, I literally left nothing more than the CDs and paperwork in the car. Nothing would ever be visible from the window.

There's no hope in catching someone when they break into the car and there's no good footage to identify them.

They stole my GPS, and then stole my golf shoes. I was more angry about the golf shoes, because that felt personal.

I mean, if someone wants to get at your stuff, they’re gonna get at your stuff. I got my window smashed in despite my very long driveway in a nicer suburb just outside of Worcester. They rifled through every nook and cranny. Stole my ADHD meds (nearly a months worth), gum, change, a sweatshirt, a bag of candy, and my favorite pen. Left my purse and it’s contents though. It’s been about five years, and I’m still salty about it.

Unfortunately that's how a lot of shelters go. Everything you just said, it all also happened at Hotel Grace, which this shelter replaced.

And in the grand scheme, if this shelter didn't open, can you imagine 60 more people wandering out streets every night, in more desperate shape cuz they have neither this shelter nor Hotel Grace? In a way, it's sadly the lesser of two evils.

Wish I had some answers on how these sorts of problems can be addressed. The city definitely could have done better, like I don't think the blame should go to the employees or Open Sky cuz they tried their damnedest.

It's the City Councilors who try to latch their names onto this stuff and then bail, or cops who won't move a finger to patrol under almost any circumstances.

Grew up on View Street. Growing up it was a bad neighborhood but it has definitely improved over the years. There are still a few parts that get rough, but that’s in every city anywhere. There’s a house on View that gets shot up at least once a year, but that’s gang related activity and not a random event.

Best advice I can give is always continue to stay vigilant, as you should anywhere you go.

I go by the research. Black Lives Matter protests were mostly peaceful. There was nothing about January 6th that was intended to be peaceful, starting with the rally beforehand. Remember, plenty of GOP politicians were frantic as the events unfolded.

I look forward to the DOJ's, & the special counsel's, continued investigation into it. They are already over 300 convictions.

I remember that. If I recall, Seven Hills was spearheading that, and some other nonprofits including Open Sky (which runs this shelter) were going to help out. Then poof, suddenly news just stopped on it.

Wish I knew what happened. Somebody definitely pulled the plug or bailed out last minute and screwed a lot of folks over.

I grew up on Lund in the 80s/90s and it was REAL rough. There was a three decker across the street that had no windows, doors or electricity but tons of people lived there.

Racist? Lemme guess. Nazi, homophobe, anti trans, boot locker, brown shirt, kkk, anti climate, fascist…. Did I miss anything?

So you see no hypocrisy is calling a completely unarmed riot an “insurrection” but killing, looting, robbing and burning gov and private buis is mostly peaceful? Of course you don’t because you’ve picked your side.

So mass protests and the freedom to assemble is an invasion? Was it an invasion during the woman’s march? Million man march? Biker rally? Or is it “invasion” when you don’t agree with it? Such a violent invasion that resulted in one death, no occupying, no guns, no bombs, no fires… but definitely “invasion”. Spare me.

1st amendment applies to everyone just as long as you agree with it right?

I hated living there for 6 years on ames street. Loud people and drugs. Not as bad as main south. Don't go to the shady bars around there. Try to find another area.

They invaded the capitol in the hopes of preventing the transfer of power after Benedict Cheetos lost the election. It was quite clear what happened. The only ones saying otherwise are FOX and their ilk attempting to muddy the waters. But I appreciate the racist attempt to draw BLM into the conversation.

Oh I have no idea if its operational. I can see it from where I live and have noticed it in the same position for awhile now. I'm just saying that in general turbines don't run on really windy days. They don't need strong winds to operate, but the stronger winds can cause problems for them so you'll see it off on the gustier days. As I said in another reply my thought is that they either cant get maintenance on it or can't afford it right now.

I lived in Salem and hated it. I lived in Arlington and loved it. I lived in Vernon Hill and loved it. Most active I would give is for anywhere, not just Vernon Hill. Luck your doors, stay aware of your surroundings, make friends.

Or maybe it’s to counter the narrative that “Jan 6th was the worst attack in democracy since the civil war”. Seriously. A bunch of shit heads acted the fool while thousands stood by and didnt participate. Nobody shot the place up. Nobody shot congress people. Nobody burned the building down. Jan 6th fits the “mostly peaceful protests” description MUCH more than the BLM riots and fires and murders and robberies and destruction. Seriously people. In this country, where every left winger screams about how many runs there are in this country, the only person shot was an unarmed girl. But ya, soooo much insurrection!
