Sometimes you get lucky with certain places. On average though that’s way below market value for the area. Go on the Trulia app and set your max price at $1200, and see how quick most of the apartments disappear. On average 50k would get you the bare minimum qualification for rent being 1/3 your gross income, then after state/fed taxes, insurance and 401k savings it’s going to be closer to half of your actual income going towards rent. I’d say the 60-70k range is more like what you need to live comfortably in your own place.

Definitely priced out of housing, might have to downscale to an apartment, and we make good money. Problem is I don't see a reason to pay $2600 a month on a 2 bedroom house rental.....in Worcester.

Agreed. My parents have a multi family rental property that has doubled in assessed value in only 2 years. Their neighborhood of mostly single family homes went up minumally compared.

Eta: My parents don't make any profit. They always charge below market rents. All income goes to costs and repairs. This year the taxes alone increased enough to equate an $80 per month per unit increase cost. Down vote all you want, but that is a cost increase that needs to be passed on, or they will lose the property to taxes owed. Not every person wants to be a homeowner. Not everyone can save the down-payment. They are providing a service to renters.

Are you fucking stupid? Everything you listed already gets thrown on to the backs of tenants anyway. I've never lived in an apartment with utilities included either.

Landlord costs have gone up 10-40 pct for all of the following: city taxes, water/sewer., electric, gas, house insurance --in just 2 years!

Pretty much everyone making under $80k is getting priced out of Worcester. There's not even that many places in the entire county that are affordable for people who aren't making $30+/hour.

the air quality here is quantifiably bad, especially compared to other parts of Mass. I never notice it when I’m here but on days that it rains and when i get off the train from Boston it genuinely makes me gag. not in like a “it smell bad” way but just like an immediate unexplained nausea kinda way. At least for me personally. From what i know there’s a fair bit of factory air pollutant, auto shops have gotten in trouble for improper waste disposal, certain areas have VERY few trees (i have approximately 2 trees on my street and both are less than 8ft tall) and the trash/recycling collectors throw bags around and let trash fill the streets. It’s not the worst city but it aint exactly a nature preserve.

Having grown up near Saint Gobain, no it does not stink up the area. The two large iconic smokestacks are dormant. They are remnants of the old Norton Factories, which was acquired by Saint Gobain.

Thank you! Coming from Colorado, had a lot of trouble near Commerce City, which has a large oil refinery. I've also been down the NJ Turnpike near Newark and OUCH. Pretty bad in that one area. The sensor info is very helpful, thanks!

I want to gatekeep this place so bad but Release Well-Being Center in Westborough has a sun sauna, salt room, steam, an outdoor mineral hot tub, and a generally wonderful vibe. Their rates are pretty reasonable, and if you get there after 5pm you can get a half-day pass for like $35-40 (protip, they close at 9pm on Thursdays so going on a Thursday is the move).

It's possible that indian lake is a weather barrier as it seemed that it was a barrier to the significant snow during this storm, because when it was falling in the western parts of the city and the hilltowns consistently during Monday night it seemed that the rain/snow line was like a half mile/mile north of the lake usually and the traffic on 190 seemed to significantly level off once you got to the lake portion of it.
