Otaku Sekai in the Auburn mall, anime merch/gaming, they also have a lounge for movies, Japanese snacks, and books. You might see folks in cosplay.

That's Entertainment has a good sized manga selection, but they have their hands in every collectibles market, so space is their limiting factor- US comic books take up half of the space and the selection is fantastic. It's one of the coolest shops in Central Mass, if not THE coolest. It's a must visit.

Great Stories in Whitinsville has some anime/manga merch and some of the best prices on back issues. Great selection of newer comics, tons of games. I go here a lot, nicest people, clean store, well organized.

The Green Dragon in Rhode Island. Absolute gem. Worth the drive, especially this time of year.

Superworld Comics, out towards Holden. I've never been.

Crazy4Comics, in Northborough, mostly US comics, prices are hit or miss, not exactly organized. Big selection for a small shop. Expect to dig thru bins and stacks, then haggle. Very old school experience, geared towards the fervent collector that loves the hunt.

Hall of Comics in Westborough, the exact opposite of Crazy4Comics. Well organized, modern, good prices, friendly staff, almost exclusively filled with back issues. They have the largest selection of investment quality, graded/slabbed comics in the area. There's some legendary stuff in there. Like a museum but everything is for sale. Almost exclusively US comics- I don't remember seeing any manga.

Anime Zakka in Boston too, but it's a drive. I've never been.

They don’t x anyones hands anymore. They simply ask if you’re drinking and if you are show your id and get a wrist band. And I don’t think they ever do 21+ anymore or if they do it’s only a couple times a year

you can pay thru the nose to get into Palladium shows, but that's probably it. when you're 21 you can go to the terrible bars where the musicians not good enough for Boston play as white noise to drown out the screams of the homeless population that lives outside the Hotel Vernon. at the end of the day, there's no good local punk scene in this town, no activism capable of making any change. the people who go to these terrible shows to support their friends will tell you it's not true; deep down, though, we all wish that Worcester had more competent rock musicians and fewer people who just want to be praised for owning or renting an instrument.

Check out Codex Obscurum Presents on Facebook. They primarily book shows at Ralph’s but they could be a good starting point for finding bands that put on other shows locally. I know Horrible Earth (Worcester grindcore) does some all ages shows here in Boston, and it might be worth checking out Boston for shows too (for those shows follow Grayskull Booking and especially O’Brien’s in Allston).

I’ve been in the auto industry for just about 15 years now. I’ve worked on cars, sold parts and services on cars, and detailed cars.

My general rule of thumb, after dealing with several hundred used car “buy here pay here” types, is to just AVOID THEM COMPLETELY. They almost never use factory parts, usually cheap aftermarket or used parts, they employ hack job mechanics, and they usually have sketchy financing practices.

I’m not totally advocated for a franchised dealer, as there are horror stories there too, but having been on both sides of the transaction usually the dealer will treat you better, as their reputation is their biggest asset. That, and they’d rather use their own factory parts so every department in the dealership makes money.

A few of the non franchise dealers I can honestly recommend are Linders in Worcester, Harbro I’m Whitinsville and Uxbridge Auto. Always get a carfax, and have it inspected by an independent mechanic. Check for uneven gaps in the body panels, mismatched paint or overspray paint.

i think the real solution (and not one everyone's ready for) is simply for all of us to start hardcore bands
