I’m second gen and not one member of my family has ever attended that parade or paid any kind of weird tribute to Columbus.

Based on Spectrum News reporting, it was mostly attended by Candy Mero-Carlson, children on floats, and boomers with thick Worcester accents.

only real option I can think of would be house shows. A lot of the collective houses used the have to odd punk/hardcore show. the Vernon is the best place I can think of for punk, but if you aren't 21 that kills that idea.

also take all of this with a grain of salt, as my days of going to every show in the city are a couple years behind me so the entire scene could have completely imploded for all I know, but I doubt it

Fun Fact: Columbus Day as a yearly National Holiday was lobbied for as late as 1966 in New York. Before then it was merely an observance.

Particularly on the 300th & 400th anneversary of the first landing.

It was signed into legislation as a federal holiday in 1968 and was first observed as a national holiday in 1971.

During the height of the Mafia's Power.

Makes you think that this is all politics either way and italians just want a holiday like st. Patricks day.

They should have picked somebody better, like Dean Martin.

Distant castle has a real good one coming up next week. While it’s a shame Ralph’s is only 21+, there are awesome shows there all the time. To my knowledge firehouse doesn’t really do hardcore anymore, but as others have said, PNI, the Raven sometimes, Ralph’s all the time, the Vernon will again I’m sure, the palladium for the big stuff.

That’s Entertainment is the only place I know of actually in Worcester. If you’re open to something in Worcester area, check out Hall of Comics in Westborough. I don’t read regularly anymore but I like to pick up a stack of books if I’m going away and expect to have time to read. Every time I e gone in the staff has been super friendly.

Personally don’t care, although I do find it funny how you basically want to throw the entire thing out because you didn’t get what you wanted. I liked the Italian heritage celebration and don’t see how one man from the 15th century should define my heritage. I also celebrated Indigenous peoples day by going to Mohegan Sun and losing a couple hundred bucks lol. You’re either going to be happy or miserable depending on how you look at things. The choice is yours.

Yeah I’ve gotta say it is interesting. I can’t tell whether the people dropping ethic slurs are anti-Columbus and wanting to just sht on the whole heritage thing or pro-Columbus also shtting on it because they didn’t get what they wanted lol

Sounds like something the guy we used would "miss"

Ours wasn't the boiler, but the roof. There's a drop ceiling in the kitchen/dining area for a damn reason. The guy never even moved a panel. Two months after sale. Rainstorm. And water coming in. Right. Over. The. Stove.

Since it's been over 20 years now I can not remember who the guy was. But he was the first name on the list the realtor (Foster Healey) gave us. Lesson learned, never choose the first name on the list.
