There he was - today's client. An enormous serpent feared by many, and known by one name: Jörmungandr.

One thought came across Lia's mind: this guy reeks of fish.

After all, when you've spent the last millennia rotting in the great ocean, terrifying the dark deep, and wreaking chaos upon lonesome sailors, you're bound to be fishier than any fish.

Lia looked at the gaming laptop placed gently upon the dock, with the serpent's car-sized eyes peering into the screen.

"Thine... God of War, how doth you participate?"

"Yeah, no worries, I'll guide you through basic gameplay. The most important thing is setting up your laptop, seeing as it's your first time."

"This book of which you calle a 'laptop'... It has a tayle."

"T-that's a charger, not a tail. It's connected to that outlet there, since these things eat up a lot of power."

The giant serpent's eyes narrowed.
"Power? It consumes power? Of what kind?"

"Uh, around three hundred watts per hour."

"Threigh houndredth of what? Power? How doth you define power?"

Lia sighed. "I know the concept of electricity is confusing, but have you heard of Zeus?"

The sea serpent snarled. "It consumes the power of Zeus himself...! And you are allouwed to wield such a maighty book?"

"It's not a book, more like a... device? Anyway, we need to set up a username. What username do you want?"

"Define 'username'."

"Okay, so you know when you go online, you shouldn't really use your real name, because it could be dangerous..."

"There is none on this... 'line' that you speak of which can harm me - I find no equal, other than my brougther Fenrir, or my faether Loki."

Lia stared at the giant... water thing. "Yeah, okay, I get you, big guy. But 'Jormungandr' is a taken username already."

"Hmmph! This puny booklet that leeches off the power of Zeus, also leeches off my nayme? There is none other than I, Jörmungandr, and my nayme is mine aloune."

"Nothing I can do about it. How about... JormungandrTheGiantSerpent...? It's not taken yet, and describes you well."

"I am not a mere serpent. I am the middle chylde of Loki, ruler of the World Sea, and there art none like me!" he bellowed. The screech stank of blood.

"Okay, sheesh, take a mint! We're gonna use JormunStinkyBreath then."

"What does that mean?"

"It describes you. Now, we're gonna need a date of birth."

"I am not simply born on a date. I am a descendant of the GODS themselves. I am Jörmungandr!"

Lia sighed. This was gonna be a long one.

Reading this and seeing "Sprout" i couldnt help but think of XIV.

I kind of wish I could go back to those days, go back to being a Sprout. Seeing everything with fresh eyes, experiencing it all for the first time...

I am very guilty of doing exactly what Sprout did here. Clearing the entire notice board before moving on. Learning and experiencing everything every area had to offer.

Heck, I even get a little nostalgic for 1.0 sometimes, as gobshite of an experience as it was. Just because it was new back then, and so little feels new now...

It could be that he takes their energy and that results in slowly killing them which is interpreted as a lifespan. slowly killing and aging would be the same thing.

Your body is decaying now and replicating cells constantly the reason you "decay" after death is bc your cells are nolonger replicating and aging occurs bc your cells slowly forget how to replicate properly so in turn if you do not decay your cells would not die there for you would not age since your cells would not need to replicate and forget how to do so

Ooh, I like this one. I'm not sure where to start, but I'm thinking that >!we're going to "ethically" clone the passengers, aging them extremely fast for cellular growth, and use the new bodies and their sturdier tissues as material for ship parts. The AI may be oblivious enough that the passengers wait up to see flesh, skin, beating muscles, and faces adorning the walls. After ensuring the structural integrity of the ship, the AI will use the softer tissues and organs as fertilizer to regrow the crops that were meant to feed the passengers. I guess that's not really important, but the main point is the shock value of the passengers waking up to a ship made of human body parts!<.

Waking up from the voyage in a dark room, adorned with the humming of what I assume is the sound of the other cryo-pods, I groggily made my way towards the LED lit exit door. I asked the AI controller cafe to make me a coffee to wake myself up. Then it hit me that I was alone. There were no other awake passengers. I thought maybe they were simply waking up slower than I, after all I was always a mornings guy. I finished my drink and went back into the dark room to check on some of the passengers. I was guided around the pods by the red lighting underneath each of them. I payed no mind to the crimson coloration, assuming it had not meaning. I looked through atleast 100 pods and every single one was empty. Then I realized that the pod I had awoken in was blue lit. I came to the realization that I was the only passenger left. I had a little panic attack, then remembered in the trip briefing that the ships AI had a camera system that could be manually accessed. I used the wall markings to find the service room and logged into the computer with my company assigned ID. This allowed to me to read the ships logs from what the AI had been up to for the past 800 or so years. I was mindlessly scrolling through system update notifications and waste management tabs, when I noticed a red notification. As I read, the ship had apparently experienced a meteor shower about 125 years before I woke up. The ship hadn't had the spare materials onboard to repair the damage, as the company had presumed a safe voyage and any repairs would be done once we docked on the exoplanet. But the ship had sustained extreme outer damage and was at risk of losing cargo, I realized that we had been the "cargo." The ship reported "repurposing and reusing 907,236.68 pounds of organic material to temporarily repair the damage to the ship to complete to voyage. Horrified, I made my way to the passenger report sector for how many pods were not dead. There were 4998 marked red, and 2 marked blue. My file was one of the blue ones. I clicked the other blue file, a woman my age. I found her pod number, #3765, but decided against manually waking her up. I felt that since we were still 350 years away from arrival, the ship should have at a least one living passenger.
