Reply to [WP] You're in a government super-hero "cleanup" team. Not the aftermath... you "clean up" the heroes themselves when they "go bad." Today, a super that can generate matter from their subconscious has taken psychedelic mushrooms. by ImperialArmorBrigade
Post traumatic stress disorder happens to many on the front lines. Those that deal with horrors on a daily basis, those that defend us from threats foreign and domestic.
Usually once the case gets bad enough with a normal human we can just take away their weapons and sweep them under the rug. With supers, it's not so easy. They are too rare, too valuable to waste without deep consideration.
Mr Make It was once happy go lucky, a civilian favorite. Specializing with disaster relief over super villain threats, reinforcing falling buildings, conjuring water for forest fires. That sort of thing.
His last mission however, in saving a town on a mountain from a fire, had caused a landslide that had killed thousands. Unable to destroy matter he could only look on as civilian after civilian was pulled from the wreckage. He truly broke after seeing a brother and sister, no older than ten getting dug out arms still wrapped around one another.
His descent into self medication had started shortly afterwords. Our alarms blared warnings as yet again as he lost control, his mind making every stray thought real. His panic only making the creations more horrible and causing more devastation.
A call to his psychologist confirmed that this added strain on his psyche would result in more catastrophes just like this. With a sigh, the clean up agent assigned to Mr Make It hit his switch, the tracking device implanted in his neck during his introductory medical exam exploded severing Mr Make Its spinal cord. With the crisis averted, began the dreaded paper work. Report after report automatically cascaded onto his console. It was going to be a long night. He'd better call his wife and say he wouldn't make it home for dinner tonight.

Reply to comment by JustSomeDudeInPants in [WP] You are a budget mage. While most of your colleagues use costly ingredients, rituals that take weeks to prepare and use a new spell for every problem, you only know a few spells, use common household ingredients and prepare rituals within minutes. They unjustly deride your work as shoddy. by Kitty_Fuchs
Reminds me a good bit of the book series Potion Masters.

Reply to [WP] You live in a utopian society. Really. No dark secret plots or massive covered up horrors. In fact, it’s your job to stage conspiracies in order to give eager adventurers some “evil plot” to thwart to keep them from bringing down the benevolent ruler out of some misguided need to be a hero. by Prompt_Dude
There was a time I thought I was happy. I had worked hard, rose through the ranks and our benevolent ruler saw the effort I put in. I was recruited for a super secret job that, which for some reason, was related to my then current position. I was a Escape park designer, which is a grand scale version of an escape room; And I was chosen for the secret job that changed my life.
—--------------------------
“Isaiah, look at this” The young mage motioned towards the wall. She stepped forward and placed her hands up against it. ‘Reveal the secrets kept’.
The walls began moving and the party gathered around her. They turned in a circular motion as layers and layers unwrapped around it. A path was revealed and ominous green flames lit from above, showing the pathway to their destination.
Isaiah glanced towards the mage. “Mary check for traps and cast protection magic” Isaiah spoke while motioning for the group to move a defensive formation. “Samuel, watch yourself, don’t underestimate the magic boost.” Isaiah whispered.
Mary clasped her hands together. ‘Protect those who walk the path of righteousness. Reveal the secrets kept from suffering and distress. Bless the heels and give them vigor.’ Rin smirked as she finished casting a multilayered spell. She moved to the back of the group while shooting a look towards the other group's half mage.
“It’s all you Samuel.” Isaiah whispered in a comforting tone.
With the air twisting, and sparks flashing purple from the waist down, Samuel vanished just to appear at the end of the pathway. A click went off and magic arrows flew towards him. He ignored them as he pushed in the usb and began downloading the files. A transparent golden hue shone behind him as the arrows bounced off.
“Well, samuel? Isaiah asked anxiously. There was movement outside, and they were surrounded.
“This is it! This is what we’ve been looking for!” He shouted excitedly. The air twisted again, and as sparks of purple appeared, Samuel vanished just to appear beside Isaiah, with usb in hand.
“Drop your weapons and come out!” The demands came from outside. We have you surrounded!
The other mage, Joanna let out a whispered laugh as she moved past Mary. ‘Oh master of the earth and the creator of light, please bless this circle with heels of flight and caper.’ She drew a circle with her index finger, which expanded quickly to surround everyone. The air began bending and twisting. Red, white, and gray sparks flashed.
The soldiers burst in, magical weapons in hand, and they lunged. It was too late. The sparks exploded and the heroes party had vanished, leaving no trace behind.
The party reappeared, about 300 miles away. Isaiah lifted the usb and began shouting joyfully. The party responded in kind. After a year of nothing but dead ends, they finally found something solid. He ran towards the laptop and plugged in the usb as Joanna cast a protection at it.
—--------------------------
“Our heroes have progressed to the next part of the plot.” My assistant shouted excitedly as she let out a loud laugh.
Everyone who surrounded her was clapping excitedly. The story made 4 years ago was finally progressing after a year of searching and hunting.
One of the designers leaned towards me. "So, think Joanna and Mary will hook up before the next arc if we keep this up?"
I flashed a smile
I had not known true joy, true happiness, till I began writing stories like this. The complexity of our writing, the world we design and build, the unlimited funds that allow us to create to our hearts desire. Our ruler is truly benevolent for he has chosen me, his humble servant, to write the next part of the adventure.

Reply to [WP] For some reason, you are kidnapped and put into an isolated chamber. The kidnappers expect you to go insane and fess up, but little do they know you are so happy to finally be able to daydream 24/7. by SuckerFor_Sweets
Reversed
All I could think about was me walking to the counselors office.
"Do you know why I'm talking to you right now?"
I stared at him.
"You seemed to always be distracted, your grades are dropping. This is very important."
I kept staring, tuning out his words with the ticks of the clock.
Tick tock, Tick tock, Tick tock.
"Kati! Seriously?" He sighed. "Just try to keep your fantasy world outside of school, okay?" He dismissed me.
I was walking home from school, like I do everyday. I hate it here. My parents think I'm as dumb as a doorknob as do my teachers. I wish I could leave.
I woke up this morning, sadly. But I'm not in my bed. I'm on hard ground, my mouth is taped as well are my arms. It seems to be a glass containment cell, the lights are bright. I'm panicking.
Then I stop. Someone is coming into the room. More than one person. I can't make out their faces since they are discarded by masks. I assume these are my kidnappers?
"Hello." Said the first person.
"If you are confused, we are holding you here to take place in an experiment. If you don't oblige to being a part of the experiment, you will be killed. Understood?"
I nodded.
It was terrible at first. But after awhile I didn't care. Sometimes they'd see what I was fearful of, trying to make me go insane. The dark, spiders, small spaces, noises, heights. I wasn't scared. I moved myself to a land so far away. A world made of pillows and skies made of quilts. With a sunset that burned over the world like candle wax. No one was telling me what I have to do. No one was telling me who to be. They were trying. But no.
I overheard them talking. Something about their boss, and if how the experiment fails-Blah, blah, blah.
I don't know how many days have passed now. They really are desperate. Sometimes I find it amusing, other times, I don't care. One of the kidnappers left—the second one. He probably didn't want to risk getting killed.
I can feel my body. Its very malnourished. But I'm feeding my mind. I really have no sense of time at this point. The kidnappers wonder how I'm not dead, some days they're screaming and talking and fighting.
This was the only time I snapped out of it. It may have been months at this point. My parents probably haven't tried looking for me, that wouldn't be surprising. The sound was so loud. BANG! My abductors had shot each other, at the same time. I realized I was the only one left in the room.
This has been fun. The tape around my body had worn off. There was no weapons in the glass room, no rocks, nothing. This is the first time I realized it. My hair used to be my neck length. Its down to my waist now. I stand up. Pain. I ran and threw myself against one of the glass walls. It shattered.
I grab the gun, and decide to end the daydreams.
