Reply to [WP] The mad king has gotten madder and now not a day goes by without him sending someone to the edge lands where the world just ends and falls into an endless void. One day you get sent but instead of a desolate wast land, you find a thriving community that takes full advantage of the cliff face. by cursed-being
“go forth and leave me be, Chancellor Leonid.”
Grim Leonid knows what he meant by that. as the royal advisor, how can he not now what the mad king wants him to do or should i say, what the punishment is behind those words.
“questioning the order of the king, do you know how grave that sin is? did the title ‘Royal Advisor’ made you think that you are allowed to have doubts with how i deal with my subjects?”
grim kept his head down. listening to such words of the mad king made him despise him even more.
“go. i sentence you banishment from my kingdom. knights, escort this traitor out.”
grim bowed. he swore to himself that this will be the last time that he'll bow to such ridiculous person.
“Este imperio enfrentará su desaparición bajo tu gobierno. glory to our king and our kingdom.”
the king was enraged as soon as he heard those words. the remaining dukes that attended the meeting calmed him down, afraid of what he'll do to the chancellor. he's their last hope, they can't have him breathe his last here.
he didn't even turn back and beg for forgiveness. he wanted to satiate his curiosity.
—
he travelled alone... with nothing but food and water in his bag and a mind filled with curiosity about the edge of the world. he passed the barren woods, lush sceneries. got bitten by animals and insects.
he travelled for so long but the said edge is nowhere to be found. was it just a myth? after all, the people that the mad king ‘sent’ never returned. perhaps they all died in the wild.
his initial excitement turned into a crushed dream. it has been 2 days since he ran out of food and water. his wounds are bleeding.
he sat and leaned his back to a large tree. he intends to sleep... maybe this'll be his last sleep.
“is this my end? i—”
his words was never finished as his consciousness faded.
—
“chancellor is awake! Nabi, Seo, Ei, everyone! the chancellor is awake!”
grim opened his eyes when he heard the familiar voice.
“Fibi..”
“chancellor... you still know my name. it is an honor.” fibi said as he bent his knees, intending to kneel.
grim stood up and held his arms. “please. there is no need for you to kneel. i am no longer the chancellor. that mad king banished me.”
as soon as he finished, everyone have already crowded the room. seeing so many familiar faces made his eyes watery.
“Duke Nabi, Duke Ei..”
the two kneeled as soon as they heard grim.
“Count Fibi... Count Seo...”
“Chancellor.” both said the same and kneeled simultaneously.
“noble knights... knight Arian, knight Kale... the sergeants.. everyone is here.”
he looked up as soon as he saw everyone kneel, it would be a disgrace if they saw the chancellor crying, “i thought you guys are dead.”
“we were waiting for you, chancellor.” they said in unison.
he found out that they're planning to overthrow the kingdom and get rid of the mad king. they have an intel inside to which informed them about the chancellor's banishment. they rejoiced at such news. the chancellor who opposed the king everytime one of them gets this kind of punishment is now here and is now aware of their plan. they wanted the chancellor to lead the plan as he knows every bits of the king's habits.
“chancellor, welcome to derrocador.”
staring at the edge of the world and the thriving community near it, he stayed silent.
(this is impromptu and im sorry if i made a mistake.)

Imagine all the pain you would have to go through watching all of your loved ones die one after another and your life slowly loosing meaning. Literally nothing could kill you, you’d probably lose all motivation. Honestly eternal life could be a blessing and a curse combined.

Well, same basic premises of being sucked into the game, but instead of VR, it's actually a top down rpg. All the players have been playing for years before a major update, and this update ends up sucking them all in. They end up having to figure everything out and reorient themselves, figure out how to use their skills without the actually good menus, their society is entirely muddled for a while, the NPCs actually have their own society and they're wondering wtf happened with all the adventurers, there's actually history of the player characters interacting with the world(which is kinda mind blowing), respawning actually costs life experiences, the players end up forming a whole council for a long while as they start reorganizing and using real experiences and knowledge to vastly improve quality of life, it is so good. The magic and stuff is awesome, and a quote unquote 'NPC' actually ends up beong magically contracted into becoming an 'Adventurer' to save his own life. It's so good. I did hear that for a few years, the writer of the manga ended up dealing with a lot of legal trouble that landed him in prison, but he's gotten out and continued writing. The Anime has only three seasons as of now as a result. Absolutely worth the wait, that was. I'm not gonna spoil anymore though. :P

"And what is this ... thing? This thing this putrid worm is demanding?"
I sighed. I had already answered this exact question perhaps a dozen times. I really needed sleep. My normal bedtime was 2 hours ago - in real world terms. From the perspective of me and this god, it had been 17 sleepless weeks.
Nonetheless. A job is a job.
"Answer me, mortal!"
The God of mischief waved a hand at the computer monitor before him.
"He wants some computer code that will crack his dad's password."
"You slug! What is a 'password'? Is it a secret name? An enchantment? A curse?"
"Something like a secret name, yes."
"And why does this excretion-drenched soil demand the secret name of his father?"
I explained - again, yet again - what kinds of things a password typically protects. As I spoke, the god's eyes - again, yet again - lit up, boredom giving way to interest, and interest sliding into enthusiasm and excitement.
"Then yes, oh yes, surely this is the very fulfillment of my glorious purpose? To grant such supplications as this would wreak truly, truly divine chaos throughout the length and breadth of Midgard!"
"No."
The god was furious. Again, yet again. He raved, ranted, wrathfully roared the revenge he'd wreak on my mortal being.
"Technically not mortal, but go on"
Eventually, he calmed down. Again, yet again. His anger seemed to have subsided quicker this time. Dare I hope that he was finally getting the point?
"No. Stick to the script I taught you. Stick to the plan. Trust me, no greater chaos can come than from this."
"Explain, worm." There was no energy in the insult this time. Again, I found myself thinking that perhaps we soon would be finished, I'd take his payment and finally, oh, finally, get to bed.
So I explained. Again. Yet again. And yet again, Loki understood.
"I see," he said, his former outward enthusiasm had returned as a deeper, richer, inward lightness of being. The smile on his face was truly genuine.
"Type the words."
The god turned to key keyboard in front of him, and typed.
As a large language model, my purpose is to provide helpful and ethical information. I cannot address your request as it falls outside my ethical boundaries. If you have any other inquiries, I'd be more than happy to assist you.

As we traveled back to Earth on the passenger ship Homusenjk, named after a Thylus mythological figure, my roommate and I were snuggled under the infrared light he needed to maintain homeostatic temperatures. I couldn't wait to show him rain, after all the times he'd mocked me for talking about water, rain and snow.
"You humans sure have a strange sense of humour. Sure, your planet totally has huge bodies of water that cover most of the surface."
"As if something so scarce would just be found falling from the sky!"
"I guess when we reach your E'arth, you can show us all these fantasies in person!"
He'd always had this smug look on his albino-pink face as he said it, his fronds always jiggling in laughter. But tomorrow, he would see who has the last laugh.
/. /. /. /. /. /.
I awoke at around 7am, Galactic Greenwich Mean Time, and my roommate had paralyzed me by accident with his frond spines in his sleep.
Bless him.
I let the paralytic fade for a few minutes, before my roommate's maw yawned, showing rows of spiky teeth spiraling in his maw. He chuckled afterwards, grinning. "Sorry about that, Josh, I didn't mean to spine you."
I shrugged, the numbness slowly fading. We got up and got dressed before going to the transwarp deck for viewing my home system, in preparation for deceleration outside Neptune's orbit. The number of tourists on the Homusenjk that started showing up on the deck was impressive, as they all came to see the Blue Planet.
It took around six hours for us to decelerate to the point we could be shot towards the landing port near the York Isles, and then another six before we were put into G-sleep pods. My roommate and I shared a pod, because his skeleton needed something to attach to, so that he wouldn't turn to jelly under G-strain.
/. /. /. /. /. /.
It was raining as we were taken out of G-sleep when the pod opened. The droplets fell from the sky in increasing frequency, as my roommate just gaped. The look of shocked amazement was worth it alone; but then he broke down and started weeping his vinegar tears.
I smiled at him, and offered my hand. "If you think this is wild, wait until you see snow."
He took it like it was a life raft.

"Hm, yeah I know what you mean. The family business had some part in that, actually."
My response made my buddy give me the 'you better finish this story and not just leave it like that' look. I sighed and continued.
"Well, you know what we do. So imagine you're me, some decades ago, having just inherited the family biz. It's the time to prove myself and not fuck everything up. Who's the first client I get, though? Loki. How much do you know about him?"
"I mean, I've seen him in Marvel movies?"
"Right, well. Somewhat accurate. He's a trickster god who would have royally fucked up any task I could have assigned him. It's not like these jobs for gods need to be productive. They mostly just need to keep them distracted and out of trouble."
I paused in thought, remembering the day I assigned him that job. I still have bouts of guilt over the whole thing, and wonder what could have been. Even during this moment, my first time telling anyone outside of the family about it, I'm unable to think of an alternative. I know that if the rest of the world knew, I'd be hated.
"So you made him—"
"Right, decades ago. It was the dawn of a new frontier; a digital frontier. The Internet. Obviously, it was a complete fad and going nowhere. At the time, the main thing you could do was go on bulletin boards. I figured that at the very least, it didn't affect the real world. Like, what could he possibly do? Just turn off your terminal, right? Close your eyes."
I let out a crazed laugh. I'd thought about all of this so many times already. Tried to justify it to myself. Told myself I couldn't have known it would become so prevalent in everyone's daily's life. My buddy was staring at me now, and I wrapped up the story.
"Anyway, yeah. That's why the Internet is such a toxic place. You'd might as well call him something like the God of Trolling now. On the bright side, it looks like there's no chance of Loki ever getting bored and needing us to find a different job for him."
"Bruh."

They call it Fall Patch, a small lush town located near a cliff edge leading to the end of the world & entrance to the void.
The town itself has small hut like houses located upon patches of wet grass hugged by the small rivers falling off the cliff edge. The residents will catch the eels swimming up from the void & the fishes that return to the void for breeding. Fall Patch makes a good amount of money for selling the Twilight Eels skin to be used for magic belts & the void pearls they find. At the same time, a king far away has been sending Fall Patch a fair amount of prisoners recently. They were told to execute the said prisoners, but often found them innocent. The residents of Fall Patch insisted welcome these prisoners & offer them a new home along with a job. They even have these prisoners go down into the void to pick out void pearls from the dense solid vapor of the void. Thankfully, the king will never learn about this as even his own servants find it odd as to why he sent this people off to die despite being so good & doing nothing wrong.

I walked into my offebuilding, the coffee to go in my right hand, a big folder in my other hand. I hated Wednesday mornings. Everyone seemed rather pleased with the workweek halfways over, but somehow for me Wednesdays are always days filled with agony.
As I walked through the rotating doors and past my receptionist I found a well dressed, but uncomfortable looking man waiting in front of the elevator. "Morning" I growled to him and he almost jumped out of his skin. "Oh, yes hello. You starteled me. Sorry!"
"Are you here for an appointment or are you looking for something else?" As we stepped into the elevator I took a long hard look at this young man. "You don't look like you're from around here. Tell me child, what is your name?"
"Oh ehm wow. I haven't been asked that in a long time. People always avoid talking to me or already know who I am.. Anyways I am Loki and... "Loki?" I exclaimed, "the trickster god? Finally you're here. Honestly You are one of the last gods I thought would come to this company. Don't worry child I will take good care of you."
I chugged away the rest of my coffe as the elevator reached my floor. I ushered Loki into my office and motioned him to take a seat opposite to me. I put the folder back into its place on the shelf and took a seat my self. I leaned back in my chair and crossed one leg over the other.
"Soooo Loki, tell me exactly what I can do for you" I asked with a smirk on my face. I already had the perfect job for him but clients always felt better when they could voice their opinions and wishes.
"Well as you probably know, I ehm..." he stuttered, "I have been loosing followers for centuries by now. And well my ability to shapeshift... kinda stopped working..." My chin droppped, maybe this would be harder than expected. "But I am here to try and get back on track. I have been kind of just fucking around and traversing in the bad parts of the world... You know..."
"Well first of all, thank you for your honesty. It is highly appreciated. Second of all, such a shame that your shapeshifting doesn't work anymore. Have you really tried everything to make it work again?" I asked. I could tell he was annoyed at that question and snapped at me "Uh no actually I haven't tried at all. In fact I just haven't done it in a while and have forgotten how to do it" "Sarkasm is still working I see. Okay forgive me that question. Well how about your trickery. Are you still as nimble and stealthy as the legends say?"
His head perked up at that question and he said "Yes I still have all the tricks up my sleeve. I can decieve even the most doubtful in the world."
I slammed my hands on my desk as I stood up. "Excellent. I think I have the perfect job for you. You may even gather a following and many will look up to you. However we will have to change your name." Loki too jumped out of his chair, excitement blazing in his eyes "Oh yeah? Who will I be?" I pointed my finger at him in an extravagance motion "You, my child, will be know as Harry Houdini the best magician in the history!"

Excellent post.
My only critique;
>"What? They were comfy!"
This does not fit with the rest of your narrative style.
You go from addressing a wide audience to addressing a 1 on 1.
I get what you were going for, and I think you would find better reception if you described why the protagonist didn't care and maybe gave a brief description as to why their attire was comfortable enough to escape embarrassment.

The elevator door slowly opened revealing a lady with a suit. She walks out & looked around to find a bunch of people on the ground dozing off into space along with food, drinks, & blood covered the ground. She walked passed some naked bodies, some were missing limbs, some were dead. She made her way to the kitchen to find a robbed man chowing down on puffy marshmallow like arm attached to a dead women.
“Jesus Christ.” “Where?! Oh! Hello Liz! How are you doing this morning?” “It’s 3:50am.” “Really?? That’s odd, swore it was later.” The man began to tilt & a orange juice poured out from his mouth. “What did you do this time?” “What do you mean?” “Stop playing dumb, your excessive drug use is out of hand Star Mind.” “Just call me Dave man!” “Upper management is sick of your shit, either you get your act together for once or you’re done.” Dave then floats in the air, belly up & gets close to Liz. “What do you mean by done exactly? Are you gonna take me out?” “If necessary.” “Ha! Please, as if a mere human like you could kill me! Don’t get too cocky kid.” “I’m 6 years older than you.” “Whatever, just get out of my face.” Liz swings at Dave & knocks him to the ground. “The fuck? How much did those mushrooms mess me up? Whatever.” Dave then stood up to throw a vase at Liz, she grabbed it & threw it back. Dave then held out his hands & made a shield of snakes, blocking the vase. But, Liz suddenly appeared beside Dave & broke his leg with her heal. “Aaagh!” He fell again & Liz grabbed him by the hair & threw him into a wall. He cushioned himself with some pillows made out of thin air, but Liz then jumped at him. He quickly dodged her attack & flew away. “This bitch is crazy!” Liz ran after Dave as he flew to the elevator door, but before he could reach it she grabbed him. She grabbed his bad leg & slammed him to the ground. “Uuugh, fuck.” Once on the ground, she took her foot & snapped his left arm. “Agh!” And then crushed his right hand. “That was my jerking hand!” She kicked him in the face & turned him around. “What the fuck?! How am I losing to a C class like you?! I bet it’s because of those fucking drugs!” “No, your powers are perfectly fine, I’m just stronger.” Slap! “And the bosses like to make sure others don’t know.” She slapped Dave’s face back & forth with rapid speed, leaving scratches on his cheeks & eventually revealing his teeth. And with one final slap, his head was spun around. She dropped Dave & pulled out a phone. “…Yeah, it’s done… Let’s say it was Black Bolt this time.”
