I feel like the way to approach this prompt isn't really with tackling being a spacefaring race but all the other things we've done with mathematics.

Cryptography and encryption, data and signal processing, computer science, silicon-based AI and neural nets, all of that also requires math and it's conceivable that other species wouldn't go down the information technology route since it's possible that they never develop the need to. A good example of an alternate reality where our level of math didn't materialize is the Fallout universe where they practically never went past vacuum tube technology for things so information technology isn't as advanced as our microchip-laden world today. Sure they have advanced tech in other ways but it's not ubiquitous to the point of mundanity like us.

A prompt could then tackle for example a race that only needed the math to do orbital mechanics but only ever used light signals and other forms of simple visual communication that aren't very information dense vs us who can beam down images and video from probes all the way from Pluto.

The moment the child came into existence, everyone felt it. The silly temporary rulers of Man, the omnipotent rulers of the ones above Man, Gods, they all convened when they felt it. Like wild animals running on instinct they met and discussed but when they finally came to a decision, it was to bow. The child seemed normal to its parents, but it was not. For it was connected to all and would grow to be the Final Ruler of all. A child that knew the secrets of the world and had the ability to bring them into the open or erase them completely was someone that no one could oppose. When the child matured, 18 years after its birth, everyone greeted the new ruler with a smile. The Universe itself had descended and come to rule, no one could argue. For who could argue with the very thing they wished to rule?

I always dislike when prompts are written in a way that doesnt really make sense.

All of our space fairing and other advancements are based on the cutting edge of technology that can only really exist with out current mathematics. Sure there are some fringe mathematical concepts that dont have real life applications yet, but if there's another space fairing civilization out there, they sure as hell know at least as much maths as us.

I'm a walking idiom, I was born with body parts of sayings from who knows how long ago. All my body parts have worked like normal from the day I was born but it really is strange. I'm a silver tongued, heart of gold fella with an iron stomach, nerves of steel and green thumbs. Each of my body parts have special abilities based on the idiom they come from. My silver tongue allows me to best anyone in a conversation, my heart of gold makes me far too kind for my own good. My nerves of steel keep me rather calm, and also give me a dulled sense of touch, my iron stomach works well for digestion and I've never had a stomach ache so that's a plus. My hands are sort of plant-like and allow me to grow any plant I touch, simply by thinking it. I'm like a real superhero!

Nope

As cool as it is, it's brought too much attention so I'm hunting for some answers. I started with my parents, two good people who gave birth to one hell of a child. They had no clue and couldn't tell me anything, besides the fact that both sides of the family had some rather odd relatives but nothing like me. I went to the hospital where I was born, but most of the doctors and nurses who were at my birth had either been promoted or moved on, either literally or in the spiritual sense. There was one nurse who had been there at my birth who told me I came out silent and rather easily. They couldn't exactly give me any help either. I decided to turn to looking through family records. Time to take a trip to the old family home.

(Comment if a second part is wanted, was getting tired)

I kinda expected this to specifically give them massive hacking capabilities, given usage of advanced math to break each successive generation of codes.

I feel acid collecting in the back of my throat and can taste the bitterness already. Seconds later i vomit. "Please no, why. Why am i here and not at his side" I ask myself while hugging the toilet. "Okay, now is not time for selfpity. I wont remember it tomorrow anyway. Where are these fuckers?" Slowly i reach into my pockets and start searching for my medicine. "Gotcha" i mumble to myself, while opening a small capsule and picking a leech up. Then i place it on my forearm and watch it sink its small teeth into my skin. Satisfied i lean back, knowingly that it will have drained the alcohol out of me in a hour or so.

Afterwards i get back to the bar and order a coke. "Hey how are you doing miss?" Asks the guy sitting next to me. "My name is Jack". "I am just having a last drink before i ll go." I respond shortly. "Are you in a hurry or why do you want to leave so soon?" "Its just getting late i guess. Do you have the time?" I feel my headache getting better slowly. After a quick look on his watch he tells me its 2 o clock. "So another 40minutes until my subway arrives" i think to myself. "I wish i could just sleep in right here and wake up in my apartment afterwards..." My eyelids are getting heavier and heavier and my thoughts are going back to my brother. They always return to him and i feel a heavy sting in my chest and remorse filling my heart. "Keep yourself occupied." I think to myself and focus on the coke in front of me. ".. thinking about miss?" I snap out of my thoughts and give the man a confused look. "Excuse me i wasnt paying attention, could you repeat that please?" He shuckles and says: "i was just wondering if you are doing alright. You have stared at your drink for quit some time now and appear distressed." "Sorry, i am just exhausted." "I ll leave to the metro station. Would you like to keep me company?" Shortly after he adds: " I would sleep better knowing you are getting safe Home." I take a look outside- its snowing. "Yea i think i ll join you". We leave the bar.

The moment i step outside i feel the freezing cold against my skin and shiver. While i am reaching out to my smartphone, Jack gestures that he has already searched for a route. After a few turns we enter the metro station. Silently i curse myself for not wearing my scarf this night and put my hands in my jacket to keep them from freezing off. In contrast to me Jack seems unmoved by the weather and checks the time left for the incoming metro. Then he looks at me and his eyebrows lower a bit. "Do you want some hot tea?" He asks."That would be nice" i reply. Furthermote he reaches in his backpack, grabs a thermos and gives it over to me. Although i am not the biggest fan of green tea in general, i am thankful for the warmth it provides. "Thank you" i say and give it back to him. After a quick search i find Out that i have to take the metro to wersten in 10minutes. Jack interrupts the silence and says: "I think i ll sit down for a moment. I ll have to wait a couple of minutes till my metro arrives" Without thinking for long i add:" Same for me". To my suprise i can feel smth slimy on my left forearm. I turn away from Jack and pull up my sleeve to see what is causing it. The leech has lighten its bite and fallen off. For a moment i look at it in utter confusion. That has never happened before. She had planned to remove it later in her bathroon, but why would it just fall of like that? "Is everything alright?" Jack puts his hand on my shoulder and watches my facial expressions closely. Although his hand is warm on my back, my body starts to freeze and i feel a tiredness rolling in like a huge wave, risking to crash down and swallow me completly. Suddenly i hear the sound of a metro arriving and turn my head to the tracks. Adrenalin kicks in and takes control, forcing me to jump up from the bench and sprint to the doors. Jack is suprised but promtly follows me, eager to close the distance. I enter the metro and immediatly start running to the front, shortly followed by an angry jack shouting curses after me. Just when the doors start closing in and threaten to imprison me with him i jump out of the metro. Behind me i leave jack fanatically pressing the button to open the doors, but the metro starts moving and carries him with it into the night.

>Fund that research! I want to see a star turned into a torus, for science and giggles

We're crazy. We know how to create a black hole bomb that (if prevented from detonating) would produce power until the heat death of the universe. It's material limitations stopping us, not the underlying science. We also figured out how to turn the entire Sol System into a starship (bonus points for adding a few tens of billion years to Sol's lifespan) just so a YouTube channel could justify a video.
