Virginia Dental Center at 1025 N. Filmore st. Fantastic docs, cool tech, office staff and billing are great for getting every insurance dollar covered. As a traumatized by dentist as a child person they are great with their patience and gentleness.

I have a recommendation for you! I used to go to Clarendon Family Dentistry before I moved out of the area (born-and-bred Arlingtonian living in NYC now) and have only had great experiences. Friendly staff, attentive, etc. Used to see Dr. Lakas here, but he has since retired. Offices are right next to the Clarendon Metro, and I used to Metro to them when I was living in the District.

river place in rosslyn. they’re also all privately owned so you don’t have to wait for maintenance etc. but they also have a management office and front desk in each building

i pay 1425 for a studio, i believe a friend of mine pays like $1600 for a one bedroom? but they come with a parking spot and sometimes a storage unit. also there’s a huge pool and gym

I’m at Dominion Plaza (1200 S Courthouse) and pay within your budget for a 1 bedroom. All of the apartments are updated as of a few years ago. Rent is going up and the property management did just turn over recently and so far I haven’t been too happy with them. They will be charging for parking in the next few months too which sucks. Overall though it’s been a good experience. Lots of bus lines, but ultimately still difficult to get to the metro. However there are plenty of scooters/electric bikes getting set up within a block or two…if that’s your thing! I also checked out the Wellington when looking and was impressed, but didn’t have a room available on the floor I wanted at the time.

I had a friend at river house and it was nice and her rent wasn’t bad either for a 1 bedroom (a bit more than what I pay) but that was 2 years ago. Nice location though. The apartment itself was “updated” but it also wasn’t old looking either if that makes sense.

If you don’t need an updated kitchen/floors (early 2000 white is ok) then check out 2121 and 2200 Columbia Pike (that’s both their name and address). If you want something a bit more updated check out The Wellington. If you don’t need updated AT ALL you’ll want to look at Dorchester Towers (and you also have no pets). All of these are on 30 bazillion bus lines and just a few stops from the Pentagon or Pentagon City metros.

If you can spent a bit more and want to be closer check out River House. If you want to be closer, updated, and don’t mind stretching the 1 bedroom cost check out The Buchanan. Their elevators and water go out a lot and the gym is small which is why they’re so far down the list. I really struggled between them and the Wellington and ultimately chose the Well.

I have only internet and use my own equipment plugged into FiOS Optical Network Terminal. In the past I’ve used my own cable tuner (TiVo) by renting a cablecard from them. FiOS has been pretty solid for working from home throughout the past couple years.

AFAIK, Verizon leases the equipment or you can purchase it outright from them. They will spread the purchase price over three months. I don't know if you can use other routers. They supplied one box that connects to the fiber and another, WiFi access point that conne to that.

I've heard good things about Starry if it's available to you.

I have DSL through Comcast, but not really by much choice. It's honestly fine for everything being a single dude in an apartment. I get like 300 mbs down.

My fiancé refuses to live anywhere without FiOS. It's been great anywhere we've been in the DMV. We use our own equipment. I think they've sent us equipment but he calls and says we're using our own - sometimes they send out a tech to fiddle with the ports of something so we can use our own and just return theirs. Someone will probably correct me on the specifics about the ports. This is not remotely in my home responsibilities. Lol

Probably depends on where you live. I had Gigabit Fios at an apartment in Ballston and it was fantastic. Stupidly fast. No problems while I had them, so I can't speak to their customer support.

Xfinity has been a nightmare -- partly because their upload speeds are garbage, partly because they use some godawful broken throttling algorithm, and partly because their customer service strategy boils down to "beat up the customer with bots and phone trees until they go away".

If you have the option, go with Fios. If you get stuck with Xfinity, start at the gigabit plan. Anything less is unusable because of how bad their upload speeds and network mismanagement are.
