Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (caused by rickettsia rickettsii) is a common tick borne illness in Arkansas caused by a gram negative coccobacillus and spread from tick bites.

After having a pretty severe case of this (it’s the second case I’ve had that almost un-alived me) I’ve developed a tremor and peripheral neuropathy in my fingers mainly when doing tasks that require fine motor skills.

The infection was treated with Zithromycin and Cipro (I’m extremely allergic to doxycycline/tetracyclines)

RMSF targets small blood vessels as the cells that make up the walls become damaged when the organism replicates. As a result, inflammation occurs (vasculitis) and thrombi can form (which can block other blood vessels). This prevents oxygenated blood and nutrients from reaching certain parts of organs and nerves, causing cells to die.

Sorry to hear that you went through that, I hope you're feeling better now!
