Are we talking about the PF off rt 40? That area's not sketchy at all. It's just a couple lights down from the Sam's Club. In terms of environment, it looks about the same to me as the Ellicott City PF, not to mention the drivers are way less likely to be utter lunatics(it's something about the 40/29 interchange, everyone puts on their maniac pants to drive through that stretch of 40). Of course, you're gonna see a few more Black people, but that's not the problem...right? 🤨

When I was in my 20s I met some long-term friends through the Baltimore kickball leagues. There are plenty of other sports and non-sports to join. If you have some interests, then find a meetup group for it (swing dancing, hiking, etc). Meet your neighbors and invite them for meals, nightlife, etc.

DMV usually refers to the parts of Maryland and Virginia that immediately surround DC. So it includes places like Silver Spring and Bethesda, not so much Baltimore. It's a fun area, and if you make friends down there it's a good place to spend a weekend. But it's a long drive to constantly be visiting.

It does. But the DMV is the DC suburbs. Baltimore is outside that. It's a short drive between the two and a common commute, but most wouldn't travel it on a snow day.

I think it kind of depends on tolerance for their existence (😉), but here are some places I enjoy so far that are more laid back and not "college town party" vibes like the Cross Street Market area will have:

Brewer's Cask; I Don't Know (pretty chill during happy hours but I know Ravens games can be loud here); Mums; Riverside Taphouse; Checkerspot Brewery.

That's all I have for now - just moved here October but I'm sure I'll find more!
