Hey, I know that struggle as well. If you're open to it, I'm a manager at one of teams running the lifeline program that gives out free phone services along with a phone and tablet if they qualify (StandUp Wireless). Pay got increased last week as well, and the schedule is as flexible as necessary.

PM me if you're interested, we're always looking for more people! 👍

There are bike lanes. Not as many protected lanes as DC, but we’re getting there. I’ll post a link to our bike network and the big greenway trail project that is coming (and will be transformative.) I bike everywhere I need to go inside city limits. I have a small CUV for work only purposes (I work in construction so it’s unfortunately pretty necessary until our bike network is completely built out at which point I may swap to an e-cargo bike.) The trains to DC allow you to take a bike on them, so your partner could do that if the distance on either end is more than a few blocks. The waterfront promenade is part of the city cycle network which is nice and probably rhe 2 best bike lanes in the city are right by Penn Station with the 3rd best being nearby.

  1. Fallsway curb separated bike lane
  2. Maryland Ave cycle track (protected)
  3. Jones Falls Trail

Most Paratransit and I believe even MetroAcess is also 5 minutes from Vehicle arrival. The 15 minutes is a window before and after the requested time. So if your time is 9:00, you have to be ready from 8:45 to 9:15. If the vehicle arrives at anytime, you have 5 minutes or it's a no-show. I'd be shocked if any Paratransit vehicle that is ridesharing can wait 15 minutes for every passenger because the whole route would break apart. But I often find people get confused about windows. I work in Software and Transportation.

Edit: Yep, just looked it up. Pretty standard.

Pick Windows > Pick-Up Windows When trips are scheduled, MetroAccess assigns a pick- up window, which is a time period during which the customer is scheduled to be picked up for their trip. These windows are 30-minutes long, and allow for traffic and other delays.

> Customers should be ready at the beginning of the pick-up window. For example, if a customer schedules a trip for 8:00 a.m., the pick-up window is from 7:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The customer should be ready for pick-up at 7:45 a.m. Customers typically receive a courtesy phone call upon vehicle arrival and should be prepared to display a valid MetroAccess ID card and pay the exact fare before boarding the vehicle (if the fare has not been prepaid via EZ-Pay).

Customer No-Show and Late > Cancellation Policy No-Shows Upon arrival within the pick-up window, drivers are required to wait five minutes for customers. Within that five minutes, customers must present themselves for boarding. A “no-show” occurs when a customer does not present themselves for boarding within five minutes of the vehicle’s arrival (within the 30-minute pick-up window).

Customer Guide to MetroAccess - WMATA (Page 12) https://www.wmata.com/service/accessibility/metro-access/upload/MetroAccess-Customer-Guide-2021.pdf

Although they may wait longer if they BOTH have contact with the rider and if they are still on-site and it doesn't make them late to their next stop. If they had to wait 15 minutes it would ruin ontime performance and wait times, which is the metric they focus on and the article says is lacking. They also might have been lenient during the Pandemic, which is what would happen if you have a surplus of drivers and scarce amount of trips.

Another user error lol, I meant White Marsh, but White Oak in Montgomery county has been stuck in my head.

Carney is NE of Parkville, in this area, the train would be in or near 695, which is the dividing line. Since it would be coming from Belair Rd, I decided to do the Carney stop first and take a bit of liberty with naming Parkville since the MVA does the same thing (their Parkville location is actually in Carney).

This is something I’ll look towards changing in my revisions since it’s causing confusion

You don't want your house to become a gathering spot for homeless people but yeah, a one-off incident of someone filling up a water bottle is a non-issue.

A counterpoint is that riders on MobilityLink have to be at their pickup location within five minutes of vehicle arrival as opposed to 15 for WMATA’s Metro Access. (I know this because that’s what my girlfriend uses to get to work and other places.)

> MobilityLink had an on-time performance rate of 92.6% in September, the most recent month for which the data is available, according to numbers provided by MTA, part of the Maryland Department of Transportation. That’s down slightly from 94.7% in August but up from the lowest point of the year, which was 73.3% in March. >A ride is considered “on time” if a driver arrives within 30 minutes of the assigned pickup window. A passenger is considered a no-show if they are not at their pickup location within five minutes of vehicle arrival. >MTA spokesperson Veronica Battisti said in an email a “reasonable wait” is expected of paratransit riders just as bus or light rail riders might have to wait at stations.

If you got a 30min window and aren't 100% that's terrible. But in there defense, that's exactly how MTA treats people riding the bus.

City needs better, much more frequently, more reliable transit. For everyone.

There are lots of lockout/key options for outdoor spigots. When I lived in Canton I used one that replaces the round handle with a hex-shaped key slot. Or something like this will both secure and help weather-proof the spigot. But still a good practice to turn it off from inside during a hard freeze.

Nothing has changed, that is why I’m demoralized. I know they were overwhelmed because of covid. I dealt with it back then.

The way things are now. It’s like nothing has changed. I can show you my emails. I have already contacted anybody and everybody and they just give me the run around and say they’ll look into it or they open up a claim or tell me I already have one open.

Nothing has changed. It’s ridiculous

I contact unemployment and get told the lines are busy after being on hold and automatically get hung up on

It’s depressing and demoralizing

Sell the sets as sets if you can, unload the rest on eBay by weight in multiple lots or one big one if it's not too massive. Or go to one of the vendors in Ellicott city and see what they'll give you.

Yeah I want to say my realtor also was like "shut that off immediately."

On its face, I am fine with it: He turned the water off after, and the little ice that is there will be gone no later than 10 today. But the idea of someone leaving it running and it creating an ice rink right on the sidewalk or street was enough to make me go turn it off and add pet safe ice melt to my list of things to get for the winter. This is my first house ever...I am sure stranger things will happen.

There are a couple of places in old Ellicott City that sell used LEGO. There used to be a vendor at the fleamarket in Dundalk too. The flea market was less expensive, but the parts were all common. I've had better luck being patient and buying lots off of eBay, but if there's something specific I am looking for then Bricklink.

Most people are aware that LEGO hold their value, it's difficult to find them cheap especially if they are complete sets. The only true scores I've gotten is when coworkers who know I am into LEGO have just gifted me their kid's old sets.
