The city doesn't require the contractor to backfill their trenches with graded aggregate, instead, they fill them with what was removed. The moisture content of that is too high and it will never compact properly, so in a year or two after the resurfacing you'll end up with a rut where the trench was.

There is no reason for a temporary patch to be that shitty. It literally looks like a child who's only experience is tonka toys made it. No other jurisdiction would ever let that stand, particularly coming into winter months.

Here's an example of a patch that the inspector makes the contractor fix in PG County (the excavator operator broke some pavement outside of the cut near the flagger is in the photo)

In my experience working with Baltimore City DPW/DOT employees, the culture is 'avoid work at all costs'. If a contractor or utility company pushes back on something in the slightest, the city will always keep their head down and allow it.

Oh just give it another year til infrastructure crews are done upgrading the pipes and what not. They'll lay down some more weak asphalt so we can have wavy bus lanes there soon.

It really depends on the block. In this city you could be on 3 separate blocks only a traffic light away and each one will have a different safety feel to the other. You really need to get boots on a ground to get a real safety feeling. Residents make a neighborhood safe, not a website rating based on surveys from people who probably never even lived there.

You can click on individual crimes for more info. There was one other tool I was using that I can't remember right now and it let me get to an even more detailed level, but this was a useful one if you want basic information about where and when.

Recommend using a laptop or desktop computer, not a smartphone or tablet.

Just want to add I used this (among other resources) when I was looking for a house. Literally every neighborhood has crime of some sort. Yes, every single one, including Roland Park, Federal Hill, and Locust Point. It's humanity, it's not just Baltimore. The useful thing about this tool is it allows you to get an idea of the types of crimes that are happening and you can look pretty far back to see if certain crimes are outliers or typical.

Well, the way it usually goes is nonsketchy POCs, LGBTQ folks, and poor folks turn it into something livable, and then the other people that are used to being generally accommodated in society and aren't at all used to getting their asses beat and broken move in and act like they have always been there.

Activate Body is a small team personal training gym that specializes in strength training to help maintain mobility/capability as the body ages. It’s not always covered by insurance (some insurance won’t cover anything that involves a personal trainer) but it could be worth looking into!

Lmao so this may or may not have been what I wanted to say, but... Yes, Medicare Advantage plans imo often do a lot of suspect stuff. To the point that I would not recommend either of my parents get a Medicare Advantage plan.Hell, if I were Medicare age, I wouldn't even want a Medicare Advantage plan.

They get you with all the "perks," meanwhile they will deny legitimate claims to compel you to stop asking for stuff you need. 🥴 Meanwhile the plans make profits like nobodies business... It's very fucked up.

Medicare Advantage plans will deny everything... If you have the stamina, resubmit. They have a nasty habit of denying claims to imo wear you down. Traditional Medicare plans don't do this.

I'm not advising dropping your MA plan if you like it! But if willing, try again for the scooter.

I just came here to say ditch your advantage plan. In October, I highly recommend you enroll back with traditional Medicare. Advantage plans are a scam.

The main hold up is at the intersection of 95 & 495. As the bottleneck is at Georgia Ave. Sometimes jumping off of 95 onto 29 and taking it into Silver Spring is less difficult, but still no prize. I was born/raised in outer Silver Spring (New Hamp corridor) . Driving was tough in the 70s. All due to suburban sprawl and the idea that the DC area is a gold mine.

Living in Old Catonsville, Arbutus, St Denis, Haelthorpe would put yo at 95, though its not in the city, it is old suburbs.
