Thanks all, won’t do a payday loan. I’m trying to do a loan in Reddit r/loans.. though currently it says I can’t post?

And I’m going to take my pay stub to the storage unit today.

I’m already doing instacart. I now have a full time job though, so I can’t do it all the time. Waiting for the paycheck to deposit from the full time job every two weeks is rough

Insert tribal loans. Which, if I had to guess, is what OP found. Tribal loan company with an “official” sounding name “Great American Financials” or “American River Loans” (hypothetical examples)

Don't do it. Go to the storage place, pay down all you can and talk to the manager, along with proof of employment, and your next pay date. That fails talk to your bank (and it's always a good idea to have a local bank, not a faceless corporation) about a short personal loan. Or if you have a credit card put it on there. This last is also not a great option but way better than a payday loan place.

You might want to look into some of these online banks that offer paycheck advances like Chime bank. I don’t have personal experience with them but I hear they’re helpful to some people.

Please don't get a payday loan. Growing up, my mom used payday loans and it wasn't good. Maybe work something out with the storage place. If anything, keep us posted and maybe some of us on here can help you out.

No where. There is no such thing as a legitimate payday loan. I would go talk to the storage unit company.

May I suggest you try your local community group or one of the loan subreddits. I’ve loaned to local people in the past through these groups, they vet the loaner and recipient. The interest is much lower than any payday loan, in some cases no interest. I don’t know how to link the subreddits in a comment, try searching for the r/borrow group.

That's not technically true.

MD just restricts the amount of interest a payday loan company can apply. For a loan up to $1000 the max is 24% or 2%/month. It changes as the loan amount increases.

Go to the storage unit and show them you have a job and can get it resolved. They likely will pull it off the auction block and re-schedule it for the next one. Even more convincing is if you can bring them a job offer letter. If nothing else, it will buy you another month to come up with the money.

Honestly $300 is not a huge amount in the grand scheme of things--maybe do a GoFund me? I'd be in for a few bucks.

If you can, you'd be much better off getting a cash advance on a credit card, if you absolutely need the money. Also, I'd recommend going to the storage place. Bring something that shows you have a new job, and ask if they will give you a chance to pay after your next check. They'd probably rather have your rent than auction it, honestly.
