They should be checking all of them. The driver is being accused of a crime, so both the reporter and the person issuing the citation should be subject to some "penalty of perjury" boilerplate, implying that they have at least looked at the thing. And you don't get paid unless the city knows your real identity. So all things considered I think this would be a pretty unattractive form of fraud/revenge.

I've said this before but...

I will continue reporting FOR FREE if someone actually shows up and writes a ticket or tows the vehicle.

Almost every single day at lunchtime, I report 1-3 commercial vehicles parked in the Potomac bike lane at O'Donnell Square.

The fact that this is an ongoing problem tells me that enforcement is nowhere near the level where it needs to be.

Reporting the violations is not the issue.

The real issue is getting someone to respond to the violation fast enough to actually do something about it.

I just read the same article and was surprised about the carry license. I thought, due to my own ignorance, that a police officer would have a carry license, but from what I read there, that isn't accurate. Also I didn't see any charges against her friend for trying to flee the scene with the drugs and paraphernalia... Would a drug charge or the possession of a handgun sans carry license prevent the officer from getting their job back in the future? Asking due to my own admitted ignorance.

When was this? Long ago?

Thames Street has the order card, but definitely isn’t a dive.

Duda’s is kind of a dive, but doesn’t have the order card.

Meanwhile only place I’ve seen serve actual crabs around there lately was Riptide.

God damn, ain't that a BPD response to the core.

When people ask "why don't people like/trust/respect BPD" Its encounters like this. There's donzens each day, each day the number of people who get treated like dog shit by BPD goes up by a few, and the community trust goes down.

> Documents revealed that Sheppard's bosses, along with her girlfriend, came to the scene.
In Sheppard's car. officers found drugs - white plastic bag with various eatable cannabis treats, two grinders that had loose green residue and suspected cannabis residue, according to documents.
As officers continued to search Sheppard's car, the bag containing the drugs was left on the passenger seat when Sheppard signaled to her girlfriend, who reported took the drugs and left the scene, according to documents.

Might want to check that boss out. Got a strong feeling that there may be some issues there too.

I tried to watch the CBS story about the Fells Point flour all over people’s homes but this story came up instead. This officer was driving erratically, crashed her car, when people came to help her she got angry, showed her gun. When police arrived her girlfriend took drugs out of the car and tried to hide them.

The drugs were marijuana, I’m a medical marijuana user, I support the use of marijuana responsibly. I don’t think officer who have a gun and are driving a car should be under the influence of marijuana.

I’ve read and heard about more officers being arrested or disciplined since Mr. Bates took office. I think this is very good news for the city. I hope this continues, if he cleans up the police force the city will be a better place.

maybe a better way to go would be to just put some of those city-watch cameras (or whatever they're called) along the bike lanes and let the parking enforcement people "patrol" 10s of miles of bike lanes in seconds. give those remote operators a small bonus for every ticket. they'll watch like a hawk. they can do double-duty as parking enforcement and crime prevention.

though, I suppose there could be some significant fine for people who are proven to have committed fraud with the photo uploads. that may deter false reports. you would just need parking enforcement to occasionally double-check on the reported cars to make sure people are not committing fraud

If carbon neutrality is the aim, idk if that would be a good idea here. Solar panels can be extremely carbon-intensive to make, and in places like here where it is not always sunny, it is iffy whether or not solar panels would be a good carbon investment.

I am personally a fan of the nuclear idea, but I know I am very much in the minority for that view (though maybe not on Reddit idk)

Yea, this is more of a discussion topic and not a well thought out or scientifically sound proposal.

I saw the update from the MD Senate this morning about the POWER Act and the fact that we might start hitting electricity issues with all of these options available was just frustrating. Maryland needs that sweet sweet clean energy!
