I have walked this route many times day and night and am like 5’3” and femme. I’ve gotten cat-called/harassed verbally but that’s similar to like… everywhere I’ve walked in this city and others. Obviously I can’t make a blanket statement that you will be 100% fine and nothing will ever happen to you, but I truly don’t think there’s a heightened risk along N Charles or even St Paul. I would just say don’t wear over-the-ear headphones and be alert and aware of your surroundings, but that really goes for walking anywhere at night I think. You can also carry a knife (I do) or pepper spray, but make sure you know how to use any tool you carry before doing so.

In all the time I've lived in Mt. Vernon I've only had trouble along this route in broad daylight. I've walked from the monument to North Avenue and back well into the wee hours without a threat. I'm a girl and most people see me as one, though I do keep pepper spray in my purse for a rainy day (have pulled it out once to make a point but never fired).

March 22, 2023 Patricia A. Boyle Bureau of Water and Wastewater 300 Abel Wolman Municipal Building Baltimore, MD 21202

Dear Ms. Boyle:

It has been determined that Clean Harbors of Baltimore, Inc. (Clean Harbors), is an optimal wastewater treatment site to treat and discharge the wastewater collected from rainwater, collected water, and stream water above and below the cleanup site of the Norfolk Southern Railroad derailment in East Palestine, OH that occurred February 3, 2023.

Details of the incident including testing and sampling results can be found at the EPA’s Website: https://www.epa.gov/oh/east-palestine-ohio-train-derailment-emergency-response

Clean Harbors proposes to begin receiving this wastewater immediately once approval is granted. The initial known quantity currently loaded in railcars is 675,000 gallons. The proposed treatment scheme will be carbon adsorption using 4x12 mesh reagglomerated carbon followed by inorganic metals removal as needed.

The primary constituent of concern is vinyl chloride. Data provided from Norfolk Southern indicate vinyl chloride between None Detect (ND) of 1 ppb to 62 ppb.

Data provided by Arcadis indicates PFOA and PFOS at 9.4 ppt and 8.7 ppt respectively in a 5 sample composite, just over EPA’s proposed drinking water standard of 4 ppt, with most other samples being ND. Clean Harbors will treat the wastewater by filtering through the reagglomerated carbon to produce an effluent below 4 ppt PFOA and PFOS. We look forward to your response and to helping our country with the proper management of this wastewater.

Very truly yours,

Bill Fornoff Director Laboratory

Yes! The CityLink buses are those named after colors, and the LocalLink buses use numbers. The CityLink run 24/7 and LocalLink usually have a period of inactivity between evening and early morning. Also, if you aren’t aware, the CharmPass app is used to buy tickets and the Transit app is used to track the buses in real time so you don’t have to wait outside not knowing when they’ll arrive!

According to a friend of mine who knows the bartenders there well, the old owners turned down an offer from MICA and an offer from another group who wanted to turn the place into an upscale cocktail bar. From what the neighbors are saying on the BH FB page, there's a good amount of trust that the new owners will keep the soul of the place intact.

From the article:

> According to a contract submitted with an application to transfer the pub’s liquor license, the price was $800,000. The four new owners include Nicholas Wisniewski and musician Daniel Deacon of Baltimore plus Marlon Ziello and artist Derrick Adams, both of Brooklyn, New York.

> The bar has not changed hands in more than 35 years; the seller was listed as Marota Inc., which was formed in 1985.

Maybe it was mistaken identity. I can’t imagine him having an enemy in the world. But guess we’ll never know, because somehow no description of the car, or camera footage from anywhere. Not even the gas station, really? No traffic cameras in any of the surrounding blocks? Nothing at all? This father disappears from the face of the earth and they’ve got nothing?
