> As did the court that convicted the central park 5, who were later found to be innocent.

Court of Law also convicted George Stinney, Jr. as well as the Scottsboro Boys.

Court of Law also convicted Timothy Masters.

...and Herman Williams.

...and Anthony Ray Hinton.

...Kirk Bloodsworth.

...and the list goes on which is, the absolutely blatant racism of cases like George Stinney, Jr. aside, why I will continue to stand by the principle of Blackstone's Ratio.

I personally am not a fan of victim's rights.

I get that the victim feels entitled to some form of justice, but ultimately they aren't the ones trying the case, the state is. And even in a case where the victim has no rights, it isn't like they'd have no voice. In sentencing, judges allow impact statements almost entirely from the victims of the crime. The judge can use those impact statements to inform the sentence.

I just wouldn't want to be in a situation like we're in, where one person's innocence or guilt is hinging on how the victim's family feels about it and not necessarily about whether the evidence was sufficient to convict.

As a big walker here’s what I’d recommend for an epic walk:

  • Start in inner harbor near aquarium
  • head east exploring the piers using the waterfront walkways/boardwalks/pedestrian bridges
  • head east into harbor east and go up into little Italy
  • weave southeast through fells point until you get to Broadway Square
  • you can do some of exploring here. The loop of Thames St to Bond to Shakespeare is charming. Then head over to Pitango bakery and cafe on the water at St Ann and Fell St for lunch
  • If time: walk up through upper Fells Point to Patterson Park, then head back to Fells Point toward the water
  • walk back west on the waterfront boardwalk (green line on google maps) headed to Pier V. You can pick up the boardwalk in Fells Point in front of the Pitango on St Ann, or if you want a longer walk you can start the boardwalk a bit NE of there along the marina, starting at the eastern ends of Lancaster or Thames St, where they meet the water
  • once you get to pier V you can take the free city water taxi over to federal hill and walk over to the commercial area along/between Light St and Charles St for dinner

The Wine Source should move somewhere with more parking (Rotunda?) if they want more parking, not subject one of the most walkable neighborhoods in the city to the hellish externalities of surface parking lots.

Are they really losing the RoFo parking or are they just not paying what RoFo wants to lease it?

Damn, that's tighter than I'd expect. My work asks for two week's(10 work days) notice minimum for requesting leave, and even then you're prioritized below people who requested months earlier. 😬 If they like you they might make an exception for a "good reason" but I've seen people with a grudge stick to the letter of the rules, damn the reason, gotta be fair to everyone.
