You do know that the city fits trash trucks down those alleys, right?

I think if you look at the traffic on 36th street, very little of it is commercial or emergency vehicles. We could still let those vehicles in (and encourage hand carts/kei trucks whenever possible, and require permits) while still restricting everyone else. We don’t need to leave the Avenue open for people to drive through or park their personal vehicles.

Interesting this subject comes up but I just stumbled upon this Zillow listing (https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1612-McHenry-St-Baltimore-MD-21223/294976026_zpid/?utm_campaign=iosappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare) this morning and reading the description it sounds like they are renovating 20 houses and targeting artists. It’s in Mount Clare so your boarding the up and coming Pigtown with plenty of walkable spots (old Major, Pickett, Wico, suspended, Zekes), Hollins Market ( redoing of the market, Zella’s and Backyard), and Union square. I wouldn’t say it’s desirable but I’d say it looks a lot like a Highlandtown situation 10-15 years ago. If anyone has any insight on this project that would be great.

Owings Mills Blvd (and branching roads) are a mess, and Reisterstown Road from where it terminates near BCCC in the City all the way to Main Street in Reisterstown is a hellscape - especially in the stretch between Dolfield to the West and McDonogh to the East.

With that said, 795 is the fucking Fury Road.

Emergency traffic can go through pedestrian-only zones (usually with movable posts or bollards). Commercial traffic can go through alleys and/or use smaller vehicles. There are plenty of pedestrian-only areas around the world that have thriving businesses because of the lack of cars, not in spite of it.
