Reply to comment by Ok-Entrepreneur4365 in West Baltimore gang takedown: 33 indicted on drug, gun and attempted murder charges, police say by Dr_Midnight
> You literally said that punishing people for drug crimes doesn't work.
And it doesn't. All 33 of the gangbangers in the OP article will be replaced by new participants in the drug game within a week. There is no way we will incarcerate our way out of our national drug epidemic.
And you're not arguing against the alternative; you are arguing against the strawman you're building, "make everything legal and do nothing else about the problem". Any viable path to reducing addiction and overdose rates also has to include a myriad of social services. The $50k/yr it costs to lock someone up and throw away the key can be better spent on counseling, education, rehabilitation, and "housing first" programs.
We should be taking our cues from nations whose policy is actually reducing drug use among adolescents (new addicts) and opioid deaths overall.
Have a look at the chart here. Does that indicate to you that America's less liberal national drug policy is more or less effective than that of its OECD peer nations?

Can somebody to an ELI5 of why they seem to be working? I'm not being a skeptic. I genuinely want to understand.

Whole fresh sardines can be hard to find at local markets. Often H Mart will have them or Great Wall (also on 40, if it’s still there at all).

T-Mobile gives away a code for MLB TV for the season, if you have them. Blackouts may apply.
If you want, I can give you my code.

I know this is an odd take but… Cross Street Market. Yesterday, while everyone was packed in the bars, there were plenty of open seating inside the market and they had the game on every TV in the place. They have very large TVs too so, good to watch from any angle.

Just the USA for now. Maybe Mexico if we get lucky.
I picked Baltimore due to the fact it's closest to his location and will seem like an easy trip. It's complex and due to it being a US-based Nigerian scammer, I'm not too comfortable with sharing everything for fear he might come through here searching.

98 rock broadcasts all the games and their commentary team is awesome. You can't stream on the app but fm radio is a great way to listen to a game. Brett Hollander does a really great job of painting a picture for you.

Right. I think they're waiting on the completion of the Long Bridge replacement to allow crossrunning for VRE and MARC.

You should probably point out that that won't get you O's games without extra steps.

Displacement is not the same as a reduction. Homicides and shootings overall have not decreased in any sort of meaningful way in the city... just in the zones they're focusing on. This is the same reason I am not sold on the GVRS program that the city is touting as a success. Yeah, when you flood an area with resources that area is going to see a crime reduction. Meanwhile, other areas that aren't seeing those resources are seeing increases in crime.
Both programs have their merits, but neither are the cure all that the powers that be want them to be.

Is there a reason you want this person to go to Baltimore versus any other place in the country (or globe, idk what scale you're talking)?

600 million in Public Funds for Orioles last year and can't watch a game on "over the air" TV.
Fuck 'em. Don't go to games. Don't trade with their sponsors. Fuck 'em right in the face with a big orange dildo.
Last year, you couldn't stream 98 Rock using a service like tuneIN when they had a Ravens game on, either. Like, the straight 98 Rock radio feed with the same commercials and everything. These guys are leeches. Vampires. Suck up every last coin they can find laying around.
You want to watch the birds? Go watch actual birds. It's free.
