Aldi is literally amazing. My family has shopped there since before I (20) was born. I just went today and got groceries for $350 that easily would've costed $100-200 more at other stores like shoppers etc

Trader Joe's has good produce and the prices aren't bad. I find Lidl produce hit or miss.

I feel like there is a rule that if someone’s front door faces it, then it’s a street. There is a similar “street” in the alleys southeast of the corner of 36th and Roland. All back doors = alley. Some front doors = street?

Just towards 36th from the elementary school on Chestnut on the Falls Road side.

I can't figure out where that is. And I know Berry St.
My favorite Berry St story was coming out of Wine Source and watching a guy get out of a white work van and clean his hands in an alley puddle.
That's a dirty job if that alley puddle is how you get CLEANER.

I live like a half block away and every time I walk through here I’m amazed it’s considered a “street.”

My wife and I had dinner at Foraged last week. The entire meal was phenomenal but their apple pie cheesecake and chocolate pot were the best desserts we've had in a long time.

I didn’t know that about the heavy use of that freight corridor, but my MARC fever dream is that Maryland buys CSX right of way and turns the Camden Line into what the Penn line is right now: a high frequency, speedy arterial in the Bal/Was corridor with connections to other transit modes. Similar to what Virginia is doing with VRE

It's been a while for me but MOM'S, Trader Joe's and Towson Hot Bagels are all pretty good. MOM'S and THB near the Timonium light rail stop is probably a one-stop-shop.

From January to early November, the queen is Smith Island Cake from SugarBakers.

IMO the only true consumer-based individual action that would matter is ditching a car or becoming car-light. Both of which is way better for the environment than purchasing an electric car, which has significant environmental cost to make.

I think that much of the issue with development could be avoided if you gave advantages to homeowners and disadvantages to landlords. for example, you could make the rule that only houses that are currently owner-occupied can be converted to multi-family without going through the longer process. that way, folks who own their own houses can choose to either convert and sell or convert and remain in one of the units, both of which build wealth for homeowners. meanwhile a landlord would not get that benefit and still have to pursue the variance through the more complicated process. it wouldn't be perfect as people could game in my having a "straw buyer" technically own it for some period of time, but that's a lot of work and fraud, which would prevent most folks from doing that.

Taqueria El Sabor del Parque does delicious tres leches and flan. Best I’ve found in this area. The dessert I loved most was the chocolate pot topped with evoo at Faddensonen, but they don’t make it anymore.
