They would be open during snow storms so we would stop in to warm up and eat when we would be working. He would put coffee on and add a few nips. Really nice guys.

Good. Shit has straight up collapsed in my neighborhood because historical preservation whiners obstructed redevelopment.

Right. People complain just to complain here. People don’t like the ugly vacants, but when something is done to beautify the city, it’s a problem. I swear, everyone loves to complain about change AND the status quo in this city. Hopeless. Miserable. Oblivious. People here can be so weird.

These stories always bring out the kooks who think a building can be restored to habitability by the power of positive thinking.

I live downtown. I walk pass the prayer garden often. It’s open more often than not. You’re a liar.

Especially when the “green space” isn’t public.

The majority of church members live in the counties and don’t give a shit about what happens in the city.

J’s discount tire on reisterstown road. Don’t let the sketchy storefront fool you. Legit awesome for all things wheeled.

The Archdiocese of Baltimore tore down the 54 unit Rochambeau Apartments for a prayer garden in 2006. The city cannot allow organizations to keep tearing down historic buildings for more "green space" or prayer gardens. Mount Vernon's urban fabric is some of the densest and most historic in the entire city, it makes zero sense to tear even more of it down with no adequate replacement.

Have you seen the hole? Got a pic? I ask because, depending on the size, it could be repairable, for cheap.
I used Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists, in Gaithersburg.

I’m not sure if they’re still going on, but I’ve seen okra at the waverly and jones falls farmers markets.

This is a bit outside of the city but Fishhead Cantina in Halethorpe is a great music venue. I've always had a good time here. Fells Point, Hampden and Federal Hill are the best neighborhoods for wandering about. Crosstreet Market has great food and a solid coffee shop.
The Senator Theater often has artsy offerings. Games and Stuff in Glen Burnie is the best game store with weekly in store gaming events.
If you are looking to relocate on a small budget look into room rentals, will be your best bet.

Yea that’s totally. But I think I’m being reasonable to say that 2-3 roommates at $500-700 each gives you access to almost every major “popular” neighborhood in the city. Might not always be the nicest place but you def have access to most of the city

Many/most of the congregation are county residents. Maybe not intentionally, they are giving a middle finger to the neighborhood.
Edit: 5 houses is significant. That will be a gaping hole in that smallish block.

Check out a show at the Ottobar, one of the coolest music venues ever! There's several good bands playing Thu-Sun, and it's really an all around awesome joint

The issue here is that people by and large considered police presence in their neighborhood a bad thing. There is a middle ground between being absent and being considered problematic. I would call that middle ground ‘good policing.’

The "other hardscape improvements" don't sound like green space and I guarantee it won't be open to the public.

Just neglect your property for three decades and magically it's too decrepit to fix, so sad 🤷♀️
