Hey OP, sounds like you’ve got a consensus already but just to add my anecdote: Yeah I’m never worried walking around there.

I’m not blind, I know there are real issues. I don’t want to be dismissive of real victims of real crimes, but I’ll also say the doom and gloom on TV don’t accurately reflect reality. People are scared of the city, and that’s fine, but it’s exhausting to a lot of us.

I’ve lived here for almost a decade. I’ve regularly walked and biked in neighborhoods across the spectrum, and I’ve never had to dodge bullets. For some reason (Fox 45 running “CITY IN CRISIS” banners 24/7) people outside the city are shocked at my survival though.

Rented with southern management for 4 years at two different properties and had a good experience. At the last property they even let us go month to month for a little over a year while we searched for a home. One of our friends went month to month with them for 4 years. The price was reasonable for month to month and it didn’t change for a while.

A standard bike lane next to parked cars that kills bicycle riders and increases crossing distance for pedestrians resulting in them being hit and killed as well is the model that should be followed? Brilliant.

Dropping a yield for peds sign that the city runs out of because they're run over so much is the model? Also brilliant.

We should definitely listen to you and not peer reviewed research on what makes safer streets.

just throwing this out there, but kix is playing the night beforehand (dec 16) in brunswick md in a firehall. Brunswick isn't much further away from dc than baltimore is and for sure it's got much lower crime etc.. plus it will probably be a much smaller crowd. I think it's pretty cute that your daughter is into western maryland's premiere hair band. I hope you guys have a great time! I don't think ramshead will be a problem though, just thought i'd present an alternative.

The Roland Ave project could have been, and should have been the standard to follow. It’s idiot proof and doesn’t look like someone puked on the pavement. The sign that says it’s the law to stop for pedestrians the sits in the middle of the road works for me every time on eastern. Painting a cross walk green and stoping the use of that sign is mental.

Also… Rapid transit development? The project took six years!! To paint a fucking bike lane on the road?!?

Why does current weed stink so much? Weed used to have a fragrance, but it didn't seem offensive. I know the weed now is stronger by an order of magnitude, but when I'm sitting in my car and get a whiff it, and it seems like every other car is auditioning for the starring role in a Seth Rogan/Cheech and Chong cinematic collaboration, it's just a whole different olfactory experience than in the past.

Oooh, I want some of those misinformed downvotes too!

I'm a Libertarian Nutjob who believes all drugs should be decriminalized. I will use delta gummies to help with sleep. That said...

The whole concept of medical marijuana is bullshit. There may be things it does, conditions it helps, etc. But it's not been studied or approved for anything by any of our regulatory agencies and at least two of my progressive medical / therapy providers refuse to use the term and think it's dangerous.

It just sucks that what is a right: my body, my choice, has to be wink/winked into existence with this sort of designation.

Also, can someone explain why a deep blue area like ours wasn't 100% at the forefront of all this decrim stuff given how destructive drug laws have been to communities that look like ours?

John Haberen at NewRez is fantastic!

I’ve finance four mortgages through him and they’ve never sold my loans. I’ve recommended many people, and everyone is very happy with him.

If your hotel is in Harbor East, it is a fine walk from Ramshead to the hotel. If your hotel is downtown, take an Uber. Also fine to walk from Little Italy to Ramshead prior to the show. As someone else said, avoid Baltimore Street at all costs. Not because of any danger necessarily, it’s just grimy.

The risk of danger in that area of Baltimore is no more than any public area of DC (outside of the sterilized mall).

You’ll be fine at Ramshead. Parking decks are very close and well lit. This will be a great memory for you both. Enjoy the show!

wasn’t there a video of a guy getting hit by the light rail on Howard street a few years and basically split in half or dragged or something wild? Not about to go looking for it but vaguely remember something like that

I wish we had some control over who gets our mortgage. Mine went to SunTrust, now Truist, and they repeatedly shorted me the cents on my payments. They were totally unsympathetic on the phone, told me I needed to mail or fax them proof, then never did anything when I did fax them proof. I figured out if I wrote out the cents on the amount line and not just the box they would credit it, but I'm STILL angry about it.
