I wonder why there’s a cop on the corner of Charles and E. Mt Royal ave every night when I’ve witnessed no less than 4 people run the red while making a left from the right lane in the past month.

1. Running a red light can have pretty horrible repercussions when it occurs at a busy intersection with students and other people crossing Charles Street all the time. Especially at night.

2. If you think putting the lights on, pulling through an intersection and giving someone a ticket would magically open up the flood gates from crime to occur on the other side of the intersection, I have a bridge to sell you.

3. Picking and choosing what rules and/or laws you enforce is exactly what makes people feel entitled to do it in the first place. Traffic enforcement works in several ways, one of which is deterrence.

Put a big sign out front ‘fresh meth cooked here daily’

Could also be to actively prevent motorists from going straight from the leftmost right-turn lane instead of turning onto conway…

that seems most likely in my opinion, I can’t count how many times I’ve seen panhandlers there. But on the other hand I’ve seen them there and the cops don’t do anything

I’ve seen a cop sitting there for the past year, I don’t think it’s because of the shooting that happened in July. It was probably because ppl tend to run through the lights there

I’ve also had this thought! Not sure the shooting checks out, that would require a lot of cops on a lot of corners. Maybe because of the heavy panhandling?

There’s not much foot traffic there unless it’s game day, well at least compared to other parts of down town so I can’t image it’s deterring much crime lol

Yes, a family member who was in from out of state to visit our dying mother. Hes an ex con and said he knows what they're doing. But cant get involved because hes gon straight now And has kids.

Unfortunately the most effective way to pressure them would be for people to stop attending, but it will never happen. They have a bunch of people who think if they stop going to mass, they will go to Hell.
