Lurk you’re right on the face of it, but let’s not pretend it’s not also about how much press her case got. This was at the core of it a PR exercise for the two governments.
The shitty part of it all is that there are probably plenty of other people who have brought weed into Russia, who got the pass, where with this high profile case the ruskiis saw an opportunity to stick it to the US, and shit all over BGs life.
Now that’s also not saying it wasn’t a risk taking weed into a country that considers it contraband, she was probably trying to play the odds being a part of a popular sports team.

Kamala is a ho but Trump literally has three baby mamas (that we know of). I don’t care how many partners people have, or how many babies they have with them but the hypocrisy is so blatant.
What a stupid meaningless sticker.

The fact that the sticker refers to (career teacher and professor) Dr. Jill Biden as a "ho" is both ridiculous and ironic. She's about as wholesome as they come, especially in comparison to the former guy's wife, who was an actual porn star. Lol.

It wasn't cause she is black, it is cause she is an American. There is no apples for apples release. We don't unlawfully detain regular citizens, so there can be no equitable swap. You get who you can get. If the Russians were going to release Whelan, they would have. They didn't, for Trump or Biden. Should we have left one American in jail on weed charges because the Russians didn't offer the "right one"? If you can get someone out, you get them out.

And let's be clear. Whelan was demoted and booted on a Bad Conduct Discharge for being a thief. Not exactly a glorious record. We should still do everything to get him out, but this isn't like they abducted some Marine fresh off a shift with MSG.

For the conservation of your home, please make sure your contractor is using lime mortar, or at least "N" mortar, which is the next harder pre-made mortar mixes. Most contractors do not and they use a mortar mix with a high Portland cement content.
Before the 20th century most masonry mortar was a "quick lime" & sand mix. It never gets extremely hard or brittle. 19th century Baltimore bricks are not hard as they were not fired in a high temp kiln. This is esp true for days when they used wood or charcoal for the fire. The result is when the bricks and mortar wet, with weather, then freeze, the Portland cement mortar does not move nor does it absorb moisture, so the water in the brick freezes and the brick crumbles.
Item 2 is the use of machines to cut out the old mortar. For the side and back of a row house they can be used with care, but the 1/8" thick facade mortar joint will be cut out and a wider gap will be seen, as well as all the mistakes in cutting with a hand held grinder. Your facade is a weak place on the house. To get that very uniform look, the original facade has no bricks turned front -back showing the narrow end to the street. This means the front row of bricks is not tied to the row behind them. When the mortar joint fails water gets in and with freezing part of the facade can fall off.
I am re-pointing the mortar joints in my basement, and have spent time looking at youtube clips about the proper manner to repoint old lime mortar. It is slow and I do about a 3' square before I tire of it. But the effort is well worth the learning curve.

Reply to Union Square Tree Lighting by Mikel32
Next Sunday is the Cookie tour in Union Square. Many houses are open for the public to see how to rehab (or not to) an old house.
Today, Bolton Hill gets all the accolades of grand 19th century upper middle class houses. The city had more than a few of these neighborhoods, just that they fell out of favor over the decades. Union Square was one. During the 2nd war, many grand houses were chopped up into apartments or rooms were rented to railroad workers. Hence the area lost its luster.

My fiancé and I just found a new place to rent after our current (terrible landlord; looking at you CORVUS) slammed us with $100/month “parking fees” out of nowhere when our lease became “month to month.
We gave them our 30 day notice of intent to vacate the property just days after this, and we were told they require 60 days notice to vacate. Would love to know when this changed.

Smh. Honestly this bs partially drove me, a renter of 18 years with over 11 of it here in Maryland, to just buy. What is allowed in Maryland I personally have not seen in the 3ish other states I have lived in. The insane jumps in rent, with no improvements but usually reduction in amenities, during the early years of the pandemic were wild. One place reduced concierge /doorman service from 24/7 to 6 hours a day: wasn't enough to, you know, live up to their advertising, and constantly moved the 6 hour band from morning to afternoon to night to compensate. Another building had 4 elevators with 2 going to underground parking... Both elevators to the garage would be broken frequently enough that people with disabilities couldn't get to their cars to leave the building. I once saw someone climbing stairs to their 6th floor apartment on crutches once when all 4 elevators were broken for months. They will market it as luxury due to laminate flooring and granite countertops though. 🥴 Also lived in two PMC buildings where the majority of the drama I have experienced as a renter occurred in just one 12 month period. 🤣
Anyway... I used to keep spreadsheets of pricing for buildings years in advance to try to find patterns and beat the system. The practice is so ingrained in me that occasionally I still check previous places I have lived for pricing. I did pushback when my last building tried to screw me on rent upon initial application due to the algorithm and I was satisfied with the outcome.
Godspeed to you all... Had to tap out.

This is true, but legally, once the application is submitted it isn’t “pending.” The applicant has that apartment until the application is reviewed. Letting others apply or look at the resident who might be a “better” applicant is against fair housing. It’s all to provide protections for protected classes.
