I think Hogan’s responsible for the state, and not the city. A lot of the problems surrounding Baltimore MSA tie back to issues with City Governance, not state.

A good parallel to this is how may Ed Lee in San Francisco turned around an ailing San Francisco via the “Twitter Tax.” Not saying it was popular, but his vision led to a lot of economic prosperity for the city that helped impoverished and wealthy communities.

even with castle doctrine in MD, you still need to announce that you're armed and willing to shoot, and give them a chance to leave iirc. Last class I went through that was mentioned.

like, if they are fleeing from your home, you cannot shoot because they are no longer a danger, but if they continue to come toward you, you may defend yourself.

I like DTR. I feel if we were stand your ground, there would be so many "vigilantes" just shooting people left and right.

DTR means to just get yourself out of the situation, if you can't, protect you and yours. It allows drawing and firing to be a option if you feel you are in grave danger. As a young woman, my sense of danger may be different than someone else's, but I'm still going to do my best to not put myself in a situation where that is potentially going to occur, but you can't guarantee anything in this world.

Much of what you say is correct. But, like any place unless the citizenry takes to the streets the politicians ignore the people's ideas until next election cycle. Currently city land is being cleared of the old and given away. Part of the citizens think new is better than old so they defend these actions. But the actions give nothing to the city or the city coffers. So the "leaders" are like so many from outside the city who sell its assets and give nothing back.

Where does the state stand on the topic of doing damage to a person who is breaking into your house while you are in the house? If I am on the 3d floor of my row house, I have no place to run. I will prob do as much damage to that person as I can. I am not a gun owner, but will use the very narrow & steep stairs to my advantage.

Call your council person. They're elected to deal with these issues. Also use the 311 non emergency line to deal with the trash and the child endangerment. You keep calling, if you are friends with your neighbors, you have them call too. We had a similar situation with Romanis renting out a house on our block. We spammed 311 and had the landlord fined so many times he had no choice to but evict them.

Nice, congrats! Yeah we really like the vibe at Guilford and they’ve been great to work with so far. Just recently ate at the Sammy’s in Hunt Valley for the first time. If the Baltimore location is similar I could see that being a good fit for this. Thanks!

This is markedly different in the state where I lived before MD. In that state, there were criteria like "is the trespasser threatening you directly?" and "are they on the same floor as you?" that was used to reason the validity of a shooting in one's own home.
