I mean, this is a free capitalist country. If you don’t like America you have all the freedoms in the world to leave. If you want to stay and hope to see some socialist American utopia, sorry to break it to you it won’t happen. We will never let socialism reign here. If you are looking to get to Cuba, you could always hop on one the boats the Cubans are using to escape to Florida on - you can have a one way trip back. Socialists - please. No wonder the City is in such shambles

Do you mean Stollen? The German Christmas bread? (That’s the one thing I actually make but glad to know I can buy it, too!)

I’ve been a DSA member for years now but have never actually interacted with the chapters I live near. Is it worth going?

Funny how everyone’s life has changed and adjusted but they somehow think everything is still the same for small businesses. It’s not business as usual! Cut ‘em a break.

I'm so glad that you received sex ed! It's obviously crucial. Unfortunately, after a decade of teaching in BCPSS, I've never worked at a school that consistently taught sex ed. Lots of schools, particularly the better ones, do cover the topics well. Sadly, this is frequently not the case. For example, I taught in a high school where the health teacher's "sex ed" unit of the health class consisted of assigning students research projects on STDs and then teaching that condoms prevent STD transmission and pregnancy. No discussion of other methods at all. I also taught in a middle school that brought in an outside organization to teach sex ed but the program only lasted one year. It was really too bad because the organization (a branch of Planned Parenthood) did a phenomenal job.

Vietnam? Cuba? Portugal? Woe is me, how awful it’d be to live in a place where my basic human needs are met. And if you think humans suck now, just wait til you find how capitalism works.

Businesses all around the city—even the seemingly untouchable “big dogs”—have suffered, continue to suffer and are just trying to make it to the a time when things are hopefully more stable. Short of really rude, bad service or egregious errors, I have more compassion than judgement for the hospitality industry these days. It is still not an easy time.

It's extremely hit or miss. Some schools do and some schools don't. High schools are supposed to include it in the required health class, but that class isn't a state tested subject, so it's often taught by long-term subs or other unqualified individuals. It's often glossed over or taught ineffectively. The adults teaching the class don't have a thorough required training for the subject matter so the quality varies dramatically.
Sex ed is not required in middle school. Some schools will provide it, particularly as part of a partnership program with Planned Parenthood, Hopkins, or something like that. But many schools do not provide it at all. At the middle school level, it depends on if it's a priority of the school administrators.

Whenever this comes up, I can't help but think about how much dumber people like the person you're responding to would be without public education

Vito's in the county is decent nu style pizza (there's 2 or 3 around Owings Mills).
The slices they sell are more ny style than if you order a whole pie fyi. Not sure why, but ordering a slice or two there is better than a whole pizza.
I also recently tried noonas and their pizza was pretty solid as well, and not thick.

If it’s not too strong, consider using various ozium products. Also remember to pay attention to your HVAC if that’s relevant. Learned that the hard way…

Ha - I think you all don’t understand how Socialism quickly evolves into communism. That’s the point - socialism looks good on paper, but once you factor in that humans suck and corruption is rampant, socialism starts to morph into communism. Look down a list of countries that are so called ‘socialist’ - tell me these are countries you would want to live in, and tell me they are communist nations

Because it is.
Seasons? 🤮 Ledos ? 🤮
The closest I have gotten to an actual NYC slice is Ribaldi's. And it still does not taste right. People say Angeli's and Angeli's isn't right either. When I want delicious I give up on NYC slices and just get Noona's and call it a day. Noona's isn't a NYC slice, but it is delicious.

Much agreed. Nothing decent is ever open late.
You dare not order from a McDonald’s or Taco Bell. It’s usually busy af already with customers.

Also a New Yorker who is living in Baltimore now. THB is the closest thing I’ve found but I haven’t travelled outside of downtown/fells/canton area. The Daily Grind in Fells makes a decent bagel sandwich and id recommend their Asiago bagel
Pizza…good. Luck. 😂
99 cent slices in the City are better than anything down here. There are hardly any places that even sell it by the slice. Pasta Mista is decent and likely the closest you can get, but I haven’t found a slice of margherita worth even mentioning.
