at two different points of your life and have a completely different response to it?
For me, it was this book by Jean Ure called Over the Moon.
Incoming spoiler - the main character’s mother wanted to be known for more than her looks and in the end, left the main character’s father to go back to college.
When I was younger, maybe around 14 years old, I could not understand why the mother would feel unsatisfied with a husband who obviously adores her and would not change anything about her.
Now that I am in my thirties, I now see how sexist and shallow the dad was being (calling the mother selfish for trying to get an education, insisting that the main character could do anything with her looks, etc.)
Was mind blown about how different my reaction was to the book today compared to my teenage self.
I completely missed the message of the book when I was younger though now I know better.
So, wanted to know if anyone had the same experience and which book was it?
