After reading 3 of the books she’s chosen, I now regard the little sticker on all of her picks as somewhat of a red flag.
The Last Mrs. Parish and was super let down by how underdeveloped the characters were. And, the ending wasn’t satisfying as I felt it could be.
We Were Never Here by Andrea Bartz had potential, but the characters and the cringe of bringing up current pop culture references made me want to gag. The main character who is supposedly 30 actually says “Big Dick Energy” at one point. The context doesn’t matter to me. This is probably personal, but I hate when authors date themselves by incorporating current slang. Even besides that, I disliked this book because of its plot holes, annoying characters, and dumb MC. I could go on and on.
Where the Crawdads Sing also, in my opinion, was not good. No one wants to read poetry with a bunch of nasty descriptions of daily meals of mussels and grits with some murder in there somewhere.
ANYWAY. Yeah, I’ve only read 3 of Reese’s books. But I would think that at least one would be awesome. Are any of her others good, or does she just go for cheap bestsellers?
EDIT People are so pressed! Yes, I get that it’s my taste, that’s what my saying a book is “not good” means. I’ve seen plenty of people on this sub who dislike the picks above. If you loved them, good for you. This probably isn’t the post for you to comment on. I didn’t even seek out Reese’s books. They just happened to be her picks. Now, I’m wary of her little sticker. Cheers!
