I am asking this because my friend has recently started reading more regularly and they told me they finished a 300 page novel in 3 hours which really shocked me.
I was so surprised I had to check the average statistics online and I found this: "While a slow reader will only get through 30 pages per hour, the average person can read around 40 pages per hour. Statistics show that quick readers can even go through 50 or 60 pages in one hour."
Then I thought I'd time myself to see how many pages I typically read in an hour (including time spent looking up word definitions and looking up interesting things in the story e.g. city names, famous people mentioned in a sentence, etc).
My result was 31 pages per hour. Which makes me wonder how my friend is even able to read 100 pages per hour? What do you guys think, possible or not? And how many pages do you normally read per hour?
